Whoa, harsh on Sidebottom, he actually swung the ball and took wickets. Curran is a mediocre t-20 bowler.

The pitch is still a road, the bowlers need the batsmen to make a mistake to get a wicket.

It also doesn't help that England don't have a decent spinner, they're now getting Malan to bowl some leggies because Moeen Ali is so ineffective.

Maybe. But usually needed helpful conditions? Come to think of it, which England bowlers have thrived in Australia during the past 25 odd years? Not that Many I'd say. Gough? Caddick? Swann? Finn? Tremlett?

Most pointless rain delay ever? Are they trying to turn people away from test cricket? Umpires are moronic.

Well, yeah, they all averaged better than Currans 97 runs per wicket.

Nice of Warner to keep the match interesting by throwing his wicket away.

Fantastic take from Bairstow to get rid of Marsh just a shame it wasn't Smith!

And the ever ordinary Shaun Marsh nicks it and Bairstow takes an excellent catch.

Warner was in no trouble whatsoever so obliged to keep the game open.

There has been a fierce storm during the lunch break, but it has cleared already.

I think England will win this today, credit to them.
Credit to cook, ive relentlessly bagged him, that still stands and i still have the same opinion but credit to him for a quality innings.
At the start of the series i questioned our brittle line up and knew it would fail us at least a few times, thats why i thought the poms could win one.
They deserve to win today and will i think.

I think the smaller bat regulations has hurt Dave a bit mentally and he never bats well when forced to play a grinding game, hes got all the talent but his mental discipline in questionable.
When hes not playing his natural aggressive game he can really struggle mentally and start playing the wrong shots or getting sucked into chasing balls he shouldnt.
If he had Steve Smiths patience he'd be deadly.

Smith and Mitch Marsh batting for the whole 2nd session has probably done enough for Australia to get away with a draw.

Pretty disappointing pitch when even on the 5th day there's nothing in it for the bowlers.

Big wraps to the Barmy army, simply outstanding spirit, great humour, great sports, amazing supporters, huge relentless voices, they are a credit to all Englishmen and a credit to the game.
You poms might not realise but the Barmy army are looked on very fondly over here, theres a lot of respect for fans who travel across the globe and support like that, puts us aussies to shame as far as enthusiasm and cheering goes.

Well done to the Army and to the poms, played well, supported fanatically.

That wouldn't be hard.

Agree about the BA, they have been in full voice throughout. I was there on day one and they were the only distractions from the boredom induced by this pitch.

Both captains agreed that it was pretty hard to be dismissed on this deck.

At least England avoided the whitewash many were predicting.

Yep, thought as much - how else are you going to justify your vilification of the third highest averaging batsman in your team?

So a whitewash averted. However my views on the performances of the senior players are unchanged. Alright doing it during a dead rubber, but when the stakes were for real, they were nowhere to be seen.

Glad Cook got some runs, can he maintain it during the games that matter though?

You're right about the Barmy Army, they're far and away the best thing about this tour. But why are you such a coward that you can't stand up straight and tell us the truth about why you don't like Khawaja?
