And now has been appointed manager of Ashington FC.

Why not?

Some ex-England cricketers ride around in a fish and chip van.

I wasn't intending criticism, just surprised. From what he said this morning I think he will be more of a figurehead and "inspiration" than hands-on coach or controlling the purse-strings. I see his dad used to be assistant manager. Anyway, good luck to him.

I don't think he'll be doing an awful lot of running around on the training ground from seeing him doing some Big Bash analysis.

I think he's the first of the recent generation of retired cricketers to have let himself go a bit. Flintoff got himself back to fitness with his return to t20 cricket. The rest of them on Sky and TMS etc look trim. We'll have to wait a few years for the new Gattings and Frasers.

Stands by to be contradicted...

Kim wouldn't have forgiven you for forgetting Ashley Giles.

I hadn't thought of him but I suppose he is a bit chunkier.

And there are also the ones who haven't retired yet and are still playing cricket. There's one we can all name.
