God help them if it's Harrison.

He'll spend more time in the physio's room than on the pitch.

He certainly plans to continue for Ireland, but is doing a bit of brinksmanship with Sussex. He had originally promised to let Sussex know one way or the other by the end of October, but according to coach Mark Davis, quoted in an interview in the Brighton and Hove Argus yesterday, he is still undecided, and is also recovering from an operation on his knee, an old injury that has surfaced again. I think he has had a fine career with Sussex but the time has come to move onas happened with Murray Goodwin .

Perhaps should be able to sign one of them.
Turns out to be Hardus Viljoen - all things considered that's a pretty good signing.

As a Kolpak on a 3 year contract apparently. Bit surprised he seems to have given up on international prospects aged 27 with one Test cap to his name a year ago.

Not predicted to be the last given the current climate for south African players. I've seen a few disconcerting views about bringing in a kolpaker but our young seamers took nothing last year getting tonked around week in week. At least the presence of an experienced strike bowler takes the pressure off somewhat and in my book can only assist the development of Davies and co.

Laurie Evans goes to Sussex. That's a surprise.

Shows the sad state of cricket, though, if 100,000 a year is enough to bring in one of the most in-form international players from one of the game's powerhouses. Below the average wage for a League One Football player.

Interesting that Lancs have made an approach for Finn.

A few rumours floating around,as is inevitable as we approach Sept:-

i) Hants to release Carberry who will join Leics on a permanent basis if his salary demands can be met

ii) Tredwell leaving Kent and talking to Leics, who think he could do a job similar to Claude Henderson and could also coach/mentor their young bowlers. The only reason he hasn't gone out on loan is that it's his benefit season.

iii) Warwicks are courting Luke Wright and Durham's Paul Coughlin.

iv) Middx are releasing James Harris. Glamorgan and Warwicks would like him but he wants Div One cricket (and wages to match). If Kent get promoted, could that be an option?

v) Notts are hot in pursuit of Keaton Jennings, who has a get-out clause in his contract as long as Durham are in Div Two

If Luke Wright is available, don't be surprised if there is interest from Notts too. Next season will see Notts line up without Lumb, Smith, Read, and possibly Brendon Taylor too, in addition to last year's loss of James Taylor, so batting resources are rather thin on the ground.

Wright also has family living locally.

Presumably there are other counties interested in Carbs if he's making salary demands? Considering his age, very modest returns this season and the other thing, he's hardly the most saleable player on the circuit.

Guess it could ultimately depend on whether Jimmy Anderson succeeds in his mission to persuade his mate Steve Finn to join Lancs...

Your "unimpeachable" source is totally wrong - trust me on this one.

Glamorgan and Kent. How official or unofficial is another matter.

In the case of Kent , it would have been quite unnatural if there had not at the very least been ...let us call it 'casual chatter' ... in the dressing room about his future intentions, given that he cannot get near the Middx side.

Trust me on this one...

Then it will come as a disappointment for you to discover that he is under contract to Middlesex until the end of 2018 season !

Trust me on this one !
