Woakes and Broad have been dreadful this morning. I was optimistic after Jimmy's two early strikes but the lead is rapidly getting out of hand. England are really up against it now.

Not as many as used to. Most take up football.

By being bigotted and bringing politics into it? What had Harriet Harman and luvvies got to do with opportunities and role models for young British cricketers of African or Caribbean extraction?

A serious topic - launched by the premature writing-off of the West Indian cricketers in this series - hijacked by casual prejudice and bigotry.

Calm down everyone. Think there's a slight overreaction to all of this. Back to the test match.

Will be fascinating to see if England can escape from here. W.Indies may struggle to chase over 150.

Might be a chance we collapse and lose by an innings.

Very possible. May be a few twists here.

That's what I thought too ... Unfortunately though they only got 258.

My question really was why are the counties not signing any talent from the Afro-Caribbean community - batting or bowling?

There's Jordan, Carberry and Bell-Drummond. Then there's a few British-Asians. But after that English cricket seems to be whiter than it has been at any time in the last 30 years - which is decidely odd when all the demographic trends are in exactly the opposite direction.
Sussex have four black cricketers on their books, with Rawlins and Archer following the Jordan route from the Caribbean and Sakande being of Burkina-Faso heritage. There's also Barker at Warwickshire, and possibly more that I haven't thought of.

Sakande looked very useful when i saw him at the Second XI T20 Finals day a couple of weeks ago.

The wicket is looking quite good for batting on now, particularly against the seamers. However, the spinners should get a bit of help in the second innings.

You may care to rephrase that comment as it could be dangerously miscontrued.
Where he has a point is by 16 they aren't as developed. There is very little inner city cricket so it does reduce opportunities. Very few white working class cricketers as well. Not sure if Stokes counts as one as his father was a professional sports man. There is a lack of space in most town centres for cricket clubs. Once a gap exists by 16 it is unlikely to close.

Roach looks like a more accomplished batsman than Jennings, Stoneman, Westley and Malan.
