Except they'd used up most of their best bowlers. I think the longer it went the more likely England were to win it.

England had their last good batsmen at the wicket. Losing a wicket would have made it dicey and both getting out would have been curtains. The early finish ruined any chance of that happening.

The match was very much in the balance as reflected by the small margin of the DLS victory. However, I would have backed England to win it from the position they were in when the rain came.

The forecast was only for light rain at Southampton this morning, seems to have been heavier.

No, he won't. Strange though that he didn't use any slower balls. He has them, used them well in T20 Finals day but didn't cope well with the onslaught today.

The only England bowler to ever be hit for 6x6 went on to have a good career though, so i don't think anyone will be too concerned.

There's me poncing around making Shepherd's Pie and watching Walking Dead and forgetting the final international of the summer has started. W.Indies 64-1 off 9.4. Luckily no nightclub nearby.

Didn't bowl well though, nearly all the sixes were in Gayle's hitting zone.

Yeah was strange I'm only 20 miles away and it stopped here about 6am (it was supposedly heading in that direction), maybe it stopped for a cup of tea when it got to the Ageas Bowl!

You disagree with Michael Holding then? He suggested that two of them were decent balls, indeed they appeared to be the same as two balls which earlier went past his defensive outside edge.

Given that Chris Gayle is now 38 he may yet be the last...

Unless Windies go a bit mental in the next 8 overs or so it is going to be a very mediocre required run-rate.

Root has put a relatively straightforward chance down. Won't please Rashid and the two of them can hardly be the best of buddies given Root's evaluation of Rashid's test match suitability.

Haven't seen any of the match but Ball's expense is a slight worry - after a really good start in ODIs he seems to have lost it somewhat. Still a player I have quite high hopes for - probably more so in tests - so hopefully he comes out the other side of it better for the experience of being Gayled.

If he learns from his experience then OK, but if he makes the same mistakes again then you have to question whether or not he's up to it.

thought it was only one that was a decent ball. Others in the zone though.

George Dobell comes across as big a tit on radio as he does on paper.

Gayle is such an enigma, what is a good ball one over can disappear over long off the next. In fact, they could even be identical deliveries bowled successively.

What Ball failed to do was change his pace. He can do it, why he didn't is a worry, suggests he froze maybe?
