Should we just rename this thread the Pakistan v New Zealand thread and roll on to the next series? Pretty much what seems to have happened in the UAE.

Pakistan won the first T20I by 2 runs, so New Zealand already got a damn sight closer than Australia managed. ODIs and three tests in this tour. I guess Pakistan felt that the Black Caps would be stronger competition and more worthy of the longer tour.

Our 3 quicks and Lyon are the only thing this team has going for them, and rarely do all four get on the park at once.
TBF Kohli often outscored England's top order too. And would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for that meddling Curran!

We'll find a way to lose, don't worry.

I'm kind of hoping you win, so we can finally finish the careers of the Marshes, and put pressure on Langer who shouldn't have been appointed before the review was issued. He was pre-ordained into the role, which i'm not comfortable with. A home series loss against India should do the trick.

Would there have been a different selection for Coach had it come after the review?

I really think you'll beat India. Kohli apart, the top order has glaring weaknesses. However, picking Jadeja over Ashwin may well give them a better balance which they only found too late in England.

No, probably not, but they would have actually have had to of taken the process more seriously and Gillespie's chances would have increased slightly. Langer is safe until next year and beyond unless Australia have a disastrous Ashes and World Cup campaign (highly probable)

Hattrick for Trent Boult in the first ODI today. Looks like NZ might win this one and achieve something their antipodean neighbours failed to do in their tour.

1st test between Pakistan and New Zealand today. Abbas has a wicket already as NZ progress slowly to 31/1.

Ought to have a separate thread really.

Clearly NZ don't have the sweep shot in their locker and have gone pretty much nowhere during their innings. Now 135-8 off 57 overs.

Mo Abbas brings his average down a bit further.

They fell over in a pile too, 111/3 to 153, but they've taken two quick wickets already.

A better day for New Zealand. Pakistan only managed a 74 run lead, most of which Williamson and Raval have eradicated as they finished 56/1.

Yasir Shah might have just turned this match on its head with 4-2 off just 15 balls as NZ slide from 220/4 to 227/8, a lead of 153. Could still be an interesting chase.

Pakistan have a top order batsman at the crease, should make them favourites.

Pakistan now 164-9 with Hasan Ali caught at deep mid wicket off the last ball of an over with the well set Azhar Ali at the other end.

Yes, that really did happen!!

And NZ win by 4 runs - an astonishing collapse by Pakistan.

Erm. We may still be referred to in the Australian constitution, but Australia we are not.

Great game of cricket that. Hard work for the batsmen, some brainless batting at times from both sides and a close finish. Good advert for Test cricket. Clearly the crowd, limited though it was, cared passionately about the result.

Exciting Test indeed. Some of the shots, especially Hasan Ali's, were real headscratchers though and Azhar Ali doesn't seem to have a clue about how to bat with the tail.

Joke's having a bad week though. After claiming that England were carrying Ali after he took a four-fer in their own victory this week, I look forward to him continuing to explain away how India are lucky not to be playing Pakistan.

EDIT: Or was his name Jock?

It's been highlighted to the mods but no action to date...

Certainly something of a turn up after Pakistan appeared to be on top for so long.

Happy now? Sorry I haven't done sooner, I've not been around much the last few days.
