How many of those were "pretty" though? Bavuma looked decent on the 3rd morning, but he already had 40-odd in the bank by then. Not sure Philander really counts either, and Cook looked typically grindy rather than pretty. I think they're the only 3 unconverted 50s I got to see any of.

I'd say that Mo and de Kock's first innings efforts might be made mention of judging by the highlights. I'm sure that I would have been more up for this if I had much watched it live.

PS, since starting this thread, we've got to a ton of posts here quicker than a certain someone has managed to achieve in first class cricket!

Always a pleasure to update this thread. Quinton de Kock makes his second entry of the series after 68 off 81. And this innings definitely does qualify in nearly every way with a few question marks already about his conversion rate.

Hash, Hash, Hash! Although a good deal slower than QdK this was still a classy knock until that dumb hook shot.

Occasionally I have done a 'name that player' trivia question. Therefore can you name the player who scored 8 tons and and 24 50s in what was highlighted as the second part of their career? This player played 59 tests in that period at an average of 44.53.

PS a hypothetical but if we were to rename this thread, de Kock is making a good case for the honour.

Pretty amazing stat - he's averaging over 50 (after 20something tests) with just 3 hundreds.

Reminds me of Rahul Dravid - averaged 50+ after 22 Tests with just 1 hundred.

Even though someone cheekily added IR Bell to the thread title after I created it I do admit that it was my misanthropy towards his too many uncoverted 50s that led to said creation!

Did he ever get more than one ton in a series in that time?

A former cricketer whose latest venture may, or may not, be this?

I saw one of their trucks the other day. Many would probably consider the name apt.

I have to say that there was a certain inevitability about this one. A very nifty fifty from Joseph Edward Root. 78 off 76.

Bell had another last night though not expected to get 100 in T20.

Unless we're talking strikerates....

I see that he got a 50 and Warwickshire didn't set a high enough score again
