Malan was a strange selection in the first place.

Apparently, when first joining the Australian slip cordon, Ian Chappell was given some advice by that doyen of slippers, Bobby Simpson - between every ball, switch off from cricket...talk about the weather, food, women, anything. Just take a break, and then just as the bowler is turning, switch back on. Constant concentration is liable to bring mental fatigue and you start zoning out.

Another failure from Malan. Not good enough for test cricket.

More 21st Century rubbish. Adverts that have more prominence than the main attraction.

You realise how much time is wasted in cricket when you think I'll just watch another over before you have to pop out, only for them to waste 5 minutes dicking around with a broken sight screen.

They should really add 5 minutes onto to the close of play time. However, they won't.

If that dolly of Root had been held England really would have been in the brown stuff.

As it is they're still not out of the woods. Gabriel has made a huge difference to the Windies and he's bowling very well to Root at the moment.

I thought so too. They don't seem to use ultra edge or whatever it is now?

Odd thing how skilled cricketers seem to all go for that shot..the almost wide delivery or often a big wide..some do it everytime the ball is as wide as that, some do it on occasion but they all seem to find it strangely difficult to leave alone..and it often gets them out. In tests too not just 20/20 or other.

Isn't ultra edge the one they do have (aka snicko)? Hotspot is the one, which I believe has to be paid for by the hosts' TV broadcaster which seems a weird rule if it's still the case.

Stokes gets another life.

and another common error is the reading of the pitch..maybe it's not as great for batting as ALL the commentators told us..uneven bounce, quick and a tad erratic.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to Ultra Edge / Hotspot. However, in this instance it wasn't required - you could see the ball in contact with the edge of the bat with the naked eye. Windies could have dismissed both of these batsmen.
