Just one thing. County championship matches have started at 10:30am this week and will do so until the season's end acknowledging that the nights are starting to draw in far quicker.

Surely the same should have happened here? As we expect games to last until 6:30 given the normal 11am start is there not a danger that bad light is likely to set in by that sort of time, let alone if play is extended due to stoppages for rain?

Yes but they can't stay on if it's too dark for batsmen/fielders to pick up the red ball

I can't say I'm too disappointed that the Windies have won the toss and elected to bat. It should do a bit this morning - hopefully Anderson and Broad will pitch the ball up.

MPV on TMS says Crane would have played had it been 2-0 and he would have played him.

Swann agrees - suggests Moeen struggles with confidence if doesn't get an early wicket.

Cook shells yet another - 3 dollies in a row. Good bowling conditions these.

A period at mid-on for Mr Cook may be appropriate.

Two pretty average overs from Broad - too short, too wide, too easy for the batsmen.

Now that Cook is no longer captain, has he relaxed his level of concentration a bit? Just a thought.

I would send him further out to pasture, like Chelmsford

He's the top run scorer in the series for England.

Whether he is in credit or not with those 3 drops..

Make that 3 crap overs from Broad. I'd be sending him down to fine leg if I was skipper. He keeps wasting the new ball.

if he stops Jimmy getting his 500 test wickets he won't be popular. But for Cook's drops he would have got them by now.

And if Brathwaite gets a decent score again and we lose, that'll be two drops leading to two defeats.

Not quite hurricane Cordonko but big ominous clouds creeping up behind the pavilion.

Jeez that was a long time coming. 1 wicket in the best part of 11 overs is a poor return in ideal bowling conditions. Thankfully Cook's drop didn't cost too many runs this time.
