Did you not see Livingstone in the T20's eralier this summer? I've not seen a player more out of his depth in International Cricket in a long time.

Not sure how much of the season he missed, but considering their struggles that stat I read shocked me - until I looked into it further this morning and BBC want a telling off for not giving more information as if he's only played short formats this season.
I think he missed the first few county games due to a pre-season injury and was then involved in the Champions trophy. After he returned he got injured again during the Championship match against Somerset at Scarborough. So not much cricket for Yorkshire.

Does he not want to play or is he simply not being picked? Plus, he would have missed a chunk of FC cricket due to the incessant ODI cricket from the tour of SA to the CT and beyond. Same as a number of international players, and yet they get a shout in the test squad.

Heck, BUttler AND Hales have both been talked about with regards to test squads more than Plunkett...even though they have also both talked about big t20 contracts, seemingly distancing themselves from tests.

The selection policy makes no sense knowing all this.

Roy, Vince, Billings, Livingstone or Duckett may eventually replace him.

In terms of bowling, Ali and Rashid continue to do an excellent job. Plunkett is our best seamer and Woakes and Stokes are solid. I have to question what Willey is doing in this team. Is he playing just because he's a left arm bowler? If so, I'd rather bring in Sam Curran or Harry Gurney. Curran isn't anywhere near his peak yet, but he'll certainly develop into a far better player than Willey. Gurney's first go in an England shirt didn't work out, but he's been brilliant for Notts this year. Seems to have improved on his variations. Reece Topley is probably the most talented left armer in the country, but he can't stay fit. I wonder if he'll ever play for England again.

Right now, I'd just pick another right arm bowler. Tom Curran, Jamie Porter, Craig Overton, Mark Wood (currently injured), Jake Ball and Steve Finn would all do a better job than somebody who can only bowl with a new ball at 80mph.
Agree on Willey (and Topley for that matter). Not sure Porter is a great limited overs bowler.

I'd go for Tom Curran.

As a Red Roses fan it must hurt that not only do you have inferior players but you also have an even worse chant.

But to be fair, the dark side only contributed one player, two runs and a couple of catches that a 4 year old wouldn't have spilled.

I make that 0% of the wickets and 0.56% of the runs, not counting extras.

I guess you can make a coherent argument that there are 6 better ODI batsmen better than him in that format. Very hard to make a case that he is the 8th best test batsman when you look at our current top order problems.

I'm not going to judge him on one or two T20 internationals.

A statement from the ECB on the availability of Ben Stokes and Alex Hales for the final two ODIs with Windies is expected soon.

I had rather hoped Stokes was past all this - his cricket has certainly matured a huge amount in the last 12 months. Still, it's difficult to form a judgement without further information. One thing is for sure - the Aussie public will go for him in a big way.
