I was trying to think when I had seen such a pathetic fielding display from any side, in any format since the days of Tufnell, Giddins and Caddick.

Pakistan had an absolute shocker in one of the ODI's last year, couldn't catch a cold so seems like a draw to me!

Yes, but all sides have "bad days at the office". Windies have been consistently poor (Politeness deems that don't use a stronger word). Thought it was one of worst SA fielding teams I have seen, but I have seen better fielding sides on village greens than this Windies side. Our women's team could do better. You can carry one passenger e.g. Imzi, but not 5 or 6.

You'd think so but it has happened before. Same teams involved too. That time it was Malcolm Marshall who was the bowler.

wow what just happened? went out, came back and England almost got 400? lol

Just a word on Ali, in 11 innings this year he has never batted above 7 and yet averages almost 40 with a sr of 145.

Stokes batting largely at 5 has a more human sr of 106 but a whopping average of 60.

So its the brutal lower order England have that has helped them score in excess of 280 so often.

Why was Samuels out there? Hardly convincing edge on ultra slow.

Something I really disagree with if it's confirming the on-field umpire then fair enough if there's a little movement in the snicko but when it's overturning the umpire I think there needs to be an actual spike.

Terrible 3rd Umpire decision.

Gayle however is playing a good, mature innings. He just needs someone to play alongside him.

I agree with that one. Samuels was very unlucky. As with LBW that should have been "umpires call".

Yes! Gayle run out! Well done Rashid. Run him out, so you don't have to bowl at him

ok, so the Windies have a platform, if they can get to over number 40, lose no more wickets and score at a reasonable rate, they can have a real go in the last 10.

They should look to leave themselves no more than a 100 in the final overs.

Without doubt, Plunkett has been our best bowler for the last 2 years.

Easy. Not many close 50/50's of late.

He gets his first 5fer. Think the thing with snicko is dictated to the 3rd umpires by the ICC as it always seems to go in the bowlers favour.

England pretty much know their best Xl now. The only person you could question in the top 6 is Morgan, but to be fair, he's done a good job as captain and is still capable of match winning innings', as he showed during the champions trophy. Roy, Vince, Billings, Livingstone or Duckett may eventually replace him.

In terms of bowling, Ali and Rashid continue to do an excellent job. Plunkett is our best seamer and Woakes and Stokes are solid. I have to question what Willey is doing in this team. Is he playing just because he's a left arm bowler? If so, I'd rather bring in Sam Curran or Harry Gurney. Curran isn't anywhere near his peak yet, but he'll certainly develop into a far better player than Willey. Gurney's first go in an England shirt didn't work out, but he's been brilliant for Notts this year. Seems to have improved on his variations. Reece Topley is probably the most talented left armer in the country, but he can't stay fit. I wonder if he'll ever play for England again.

Right now, I'd just pick another right arm bowler. Tom Curran, Jamie Porter, Craig Overton, Mark Wood (currently injured), Jake Ball and Steve Finn would all do a better job than somebody who can only bowl with a new ball at 80mph.
