I'm pretty sure they'll be able to call up as many players as they like. It makes sense to send somebody else out there as cover and Hales strikes me as a good candidate.

Barbados have won the toss and will bat at Kensington Oval v England Lions.
Lions XI: Adams, Lyth, Hildreth, Gale, Taylor, Harris, Keiswetter, Briggs, Dernbach, Chambers, Plunkett (Not in batting order obviously) So Gale, Plunkett, Chambers in for Bopara, Stokes, Buck. Barbados have made 1 change - Tino Best is replaced by Fidel Edwards. Barbados are 20/1. Plunkett removed Dale Richards for 5. It seems the threat of rain is still around. |

Big centuries for both Kirk Edwards and Ryan Hinds....
Funny, but the Lions bowled out Leewards with ease in their second innings, but look impotent against the Bajans. Maybe the commies are right - they should've selected Rashid for this match.

This is a poor Lions' attack, as far as I'm concerned. Most of the best Lions' players of the last couple of years have ended up in the full squad because of injuries. These aren't the second string so much as the third, led seemingly by a very average trundler in the shape of Dernbach. James Harris is a decent all-rounder but has no x-factor with the ball. I suppose that's why you're right to suggest that Rashid would have been worth a shot, though why a cricketer of Rashid's calibre would be left out for any reason when he offers so much in all departments, I don't know.

The England commie, David Brook, and the Bajan commies were scratching their heads yesterday over Rashid's omission....
Modern-day Bajan batsmen are notoriously bad players of legspin, and it doesn't have to be Warne they're facing. That's why Odean Brown generally plays for Jamaica against Barbados. I suspect the Bajans may be aiming to reach 500, and then declare. ENGBvBD: Drinks break- Barbados are 422/5 from 126 overs. Kyle Hope 32* and Shamarh Brooks 4*". Hope has played some lovely shots so far.

Rashid was given a few days at home after taking part in the Australian Big Bash. He only flew out yesterday, so was unavailable for selection.

Dernbach's second five wicket haul in successive matches. He has improved considerably over the last twelve months.

He must save his really **** performances for when I watch Surrey, because every time I see him I think 'same old Dernbach'.

Two wickets for Collins, and one for Edwards, as the Lions are now 129-3....

It will be very interesting to see who wins the race to replace Colly in the test team. At the moment I see it as Morgan v Hildreth v Taylor.
