OK, quiz time then.
Who in the England team would you (a) most and (b) least like to miss the match because of an (as it turns out trivial) injury sustained while playing footyball tomorrow morning?

I'll go first:
(a) Cook
(b) Hales

Bairstow. We would see if Buttler, with no first class cricket in 8 months, gets a call.

Well, he was picked as the reserve test wicketkeeper for the tour to South Africa even after being dropped from the test team, so I think quite possibly he would.

I'll go first:
(a) Cook
(b) Hales
a) Compton - no real loss
b) Finn - needs the overs

WTF?

I'm in the City and there was a thunderstorm but nowhere near 6" worth of rain.

A few light bursts in Ilford, pavements drying.

I'm a little sceptical that a quarter of London's annual rainfall fell in twenty minutes.

Just got sunburnt playing football near the Oval. Did hammer it down pretty spectacularly this afternoon but only for a short while.

Lords has decent drainage too, not like those northern grounds.

It has a helpful slope.

Forgotten about this starting tomorrow!

Unlike Buttler, Bairsrtow is worth a place on his batting alone. It is up to Buttler to force a way into the team on his keeping ability alone. I am speaking on the basis of Test matckes of course, not the one day game.

It will be warm and humid tomorrow. If S/L batg first, they will be all out by the end of the day. If England bat first they will be something like 225 -8. TMs guys will be discussing whether it will turn on the 5th day.

I'll go first:
(a) Cook
(b) Hales
(a) Compton - simply not good enough

Doubt whether I could ever find the idea of England cricket teams crushing the opposition mercilessly anything more than a refreshing change.
