Bell is the first England batsman to be dismissed on 199 (Vaughan got 197) but the seventh international batsman to do so. Batsmen out on 199 (plus one 199*).

Had he got that extra run he would have joined Key, Trescothick, Collingwood & KP as the only English current FC players to have hit a test double century.

Makhaya Ntini's 0 for 130 is the most runs he's conceded without taking a wicket in a Test innings.

Stuart Broad's 76 is the highest score by an England No. 8 since Craig White's unbeaten 85 in Melbourne in 2002.

Already the partnership between Smith and McKenzie (currently 201) is the highest opening partnership by batsmen following on.

Not only has Flintoff taken 200 wickets but he is now part of a very elite group of players who have taken 200 wickets and scored 2000 runs.

Jaques Kallis
Sir Garfield Sobers
Kapil Dev
Sir Ian Botham
Imran Khan
Shaun Pollock
Chris Cairns
Shane Warne
Sir Richard Hadlee
Chaminda Vaas
Wasim Akram
Daniel Vettori
Anil Kumble
Richie Benaud.

Let's hope he makes it to 300 wickets and 3000 runs, though I fear he may end up just short on both accounts...

Flintoff has 46 catches at the moment so if he gets another 4 he'll join the 1000 runs, 100 wickets and 50 catches club!

Eng v. South Africa 3rd test Edgbaston

35 leg byes conceded in South Africa's first innings. This beats the record of 31 conceded by India in England's total of 515 at the Oval in 2002. That innings lasted 157 overs so it was something of a feat for England to concede 35 from a score of 314 in only 90.2 overs.

I'm sure they'll blame the swinging ball!
