Leach very unlucky not to get Chandimal. Clubbie drop from Laurence, very poor. That was a ripper in the last over. We don’t want them getting much more than 200 on this!

As a neutral, I think 300 would make a great Test Match.

Lawrence will be feeling a lot better now, England get in to the lower order early in the afternoon.

Fabulous start from England. They need to keep the pressure on. I imagine Dickwella will counter attack, particularly against the spin.

Good start good start !

Remember the time the ICC didn’t put Stuart Broad on the shortlist for the test team of the decade - that was a laugh.

Let's be honest, England have done ok, but this is a horror show from Sri Lanka so far, summed up by getting out to a Bess long hop there.

Great stuff from Broad though, always finding a way to take wickets......as the top wicket taker of the last decade would.

That Bess wicket was amazing. Bowlers can bowl well all day and get no reward and Bess comes on and bowls one that would make Dave the 17 stone butcher blush in a Sunday afternoon match between the reserves. Cricket is a weird game.

Yes, some dreadful cricket from the Sri Lankans. If the weather is scheduled to be dreadful over the next 3 days, England will do well to polish off the last four and get a fair few runs on the board themselves by the close.

Devon’s Dom Bess’s three wickets have been hilarious. Definitely having him today.

I havenít seen such mindless doing down of anything British since the Brexit thread.

England well on top.

That last wicket summed it up. Why on earth is he backing up that far in a test match?

I donít get it. It was an absolute pie. It was a post about how cricket is a weird game that you can get wickets at international level that would be laughed at in village.

Absolute comedy cricket from Sri Lanka. The run out of the non-striker, he wasn't even close. That's where you'd expect him to be in a T20, not a Test.

I've been trying to guess the number of wickets I got over the last 14 years that were utter dross in my club games. I completed 200 wickets last season and I reckoned that perhaps around 30 were complete rubbish. Simply bowling unorthodox spin gains you a few wickets but bowling utter dross for long enough buys you some regardless of the style.

Blatantly incorrect decision from the 3rd Umpire, we can all see the bat is not grounded, how has he not given that out?

Happy with that decision - couldn’t be absolutely certain the bat was in the air.

Bess will never take a more comical Fivefer. Two reverse sweeps, a long hop, a smash into short leg and one decent delivery.
