That was such an obvious out. What was that?
Well done Devon’s Dom picking up a five fer. Leach bowled well and got one wicket. As bumble just said “one of the easiest five fer he will get” - not a dig at Dom. Three awful bits of batting, one very unlucky deflection off short leg and one lovely delivery. Well done lad. 7 wickets for somerset academy (counting the leach run out). Well done chaps. |

Bowled Dom - congratulations on that 5fer.
England applied pressure and it told - that’s how you win test matches. Now let’s score 600.

And I thought the batting in the BBL was rubbish.

They did? I don't think it ever got to that stage. The Lankans managed to find ways to get out before pressure was ever exerted. Just an utter horror show from them.

Where does this rate in the worst 5fer's you have seen.

Utterly irrelevant- wickets are an integer.
England have been professional and bowled well - what SL are up to is their problem. Too much moaning.

And nearly gift SL a runout with Crawley and Sibley in a mix up.

Dom Bess now has the last 2 spin 5 fers for England.
Last one before him was Rashid vs SL in Nov 2018 - Leach got one the test before.

That shot over the top from Crawley reminded me of Bell in Ahmedabad back in 2012............

Lucky one for Root, still not sure how that was going over. Starting to turn a lot now for Perera.

Yep, it was out, a duff decision IMO. Bumble talks a load of old **** sometimes.
Didn't matter in the end of course and Bess got his 5fer, albeit in odd circumstances. Good from Broad and Jonny B looks in decent shape but Zak played a dumb shot. Not as dumb as SL though, that was a shocking capitulation.

In all seriousness I suggested earlier in the day that England would do well to try and get as many runs as possible by close of play given possible rain. They ought to try and get 100+ lead so that they don't have much of a target to chase batting last as well.

Poor Zak Crawley is between a rock and a hard place. He can obviously see that Bairstow is at 3 in order that Root can bat with his Yorkshire mate, and so there are presumably short-term brownie points available for making sure that Root comes in before Bairstow is out. But on the other hand, since Crawley is not from Yorkshire himself, he's going to need runs if he's going to stay in the side in the medium term. He must hope for long partnerships with Sibley, since the problem only appears once Bairstow comes to the crease. |

Great day for 9 of the 11 England players (not the openers).
Could be an entertaining day tomorrow as we build a lead. Well played Bess , Bairstow and Rooooooot.

Sans. It is something stupid I do. When he does well he is Devon’s Dom. When he struggles he will now be Yorkshire Dom. Same as Joseph with Lancs. it is pathetic but I don’t care.
It is amusing hearing comms talk about Somerset producing two spinners but one had to leave because we made turning tracks and Essex cried about it being unfair even though they managed to survive and claim the title. Two day matches on green tops are fine, of course. The lack of spin means we can’t have the two best English spin bowlers because why would one be happy on the bench (same with Craig and Joseph). Wonderful day for England. Abject from SL. Love it. |
