Foakes in. Buttler would run him out if he has any sense

I don't think it is a competition for a spot on the team being played out in these warmups.

Disappointing first tour match for Sibley. Will need a score in the second warmup otherwise I suspect he'll be carrying the drinks for the rest of the tour.

He's been marked as weak against spin. I guess we'll find out if Jennings plays next week.

Originally I thought it might have been Crawley who missed out for these two tests and that the selectors would have minded to pick Jennings but Crawley has some runs here. Denly is more of the same.

He was out twice to seam. No panic needed. No Jennings needed.

Pope and Crawley don't convert their fifties. Tut, tut!

Even in a warmup our batters are beset with the same old problems. Poor.

Which of the two teams we're playing in the warm-ups is the stronger? This one seems half decent at least, some international experience, with the rest doing OK in Sri Lankan domestic cricket

I don't think there's been much about this tour in the papers yet, but I found this interview with Mickey Arthur from the other day:

I am a good deal less confident about how this team goes, compared to the one which triumphed less than 18 months ago. Moeen in the form that he was in will be a big loss and Rashid did a decent job. We are now with Leach, who hasn't played since November and are hoping Bess can learn on the job pretty quickly against guys who will surely be superior players of spin to that South Africa side.

There is also the fact that England are probably relying on Stokes to bowl brilliantly, given Archer and Wood are on the treatment table.

Buttler keeping - really? What is the point of taking Foakes?

Do we think it is a "bowl out" between Curran and Woakes? I assume Broad will play, otherwise have been rested at home. Personally, if wickets are similar to 2018, I doubt the wisdom/need of picking 3 seamers.
