Not a bad thing really. Makes the test series more interesting and forces the inclusion of Pucovski. My guess is either Wade or Carey will open for the rest of the limited overs stuff, although it should be Maxwell.

Commentators suggesting it could be a tight contest but almost 10 an over required so I think even with wickets in hand and Kohli still there it's a bit of a stretch.

It says something that Cummins and Hazelwood, who have actually not bowled badly in the context of the game, are going at over six an over.

Yet another pathetic display by Indian bowlers and fielders. Australia has been focussed and their batsmen have really hit top form right away. I wonder if the Indian players got influenced by the way some of them played during IPL. Shami is the only one who's looked decent, Bumrah has been average while the rest have been poor with the ball. Our fielding has been pretty ordinary and reminds me of the way we used to play cricket during the 90s. On top of all that, the internal friction between Kohli and Rohit Sharma also isn't helping matters. Should be an easy victory for the Aussies.

Interesting to see that players who had extremely average IPL's like Smith, Maxwell and Finch have suddenly re-found their form returning to Sydney.

There have been plenty of reports in India media of trouble between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Most recently it showed up when Kohli mentioned during an interview that he wasn't aware why Rohit didn't travel with the team to Australia and what the status of his fitness was. Coming from the captain, that sounded pretty lame.
Just something on this: https://scroll.in/field/979584/virat...etting-messier

Another poor performance thus far by the Indian batsmen. I'm expecting another comprehensive Aussie victory. The new entrants have done rather poorly throughout the series, the likes of Agarwal and Iyer with bat and Saini and Chahal with the ball. The fielding too has been pretty ordinary throughout.

302 in the end thanks to an unbroken 150 stand from Jadeja and Pandya.
It gives Australia something to chase. |

I still expect Australia to win this in a canter.

Looks like the game is on whether or not India can get Maxwell out soon enough. If they don't then Australia will chase the score down with a few overs to spare.

Didn't see the Indian innings but 302 with only losing 5 wickets seems to infer a paucity of ambition to score a big team total.

Why did the Aussies select Henriques at 4? The guy is nearly 34 and has yet to prove to anyone that he's remotely international quality.

Quite possible. Both teams tested a couple of new faces as well.

Regardless of the result, I think the team needs some serious introspection. We were very ordinary in all 3 aspects of the game. While chasing at Sydney, India never looked like they would chase it down, and while defending at Canberra, Australia was in the hunt right till the very end. The main difference was the fact that we managed to make early inroads on to the Aussie batting here, getting a wicket within the first powerplay. Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri need to relook at our strategy, if we have any, because it could very easily become 0-4 in tests if we continue playing cricket the same way.

What a very strange team Australia sent out yesterday, and batting Maxwell below two all-rounders and a keeper was bizarre. Good to see Bumrah find some form leading into the Tests.
