Some dodgy umpiring aside, superb bowling by Shami & Bumrah under lights. They're definitely pro-pink ball tests under lights. Real quality cricket this. Riveting stuff.

Wonderful bowling by the Indians, but the batting is a definite concern. I doubt if Kohli too would be scoring too many runs as his mind actually might be more on flying back home. I wonder if Gill has done enough to sneak into the team for the first test. I also hope we go with Saha behind the stumps, but I guess the team prefers Pant, considering he's keeping in this match.

I see Cam Green is now out of this match with concussion having been hit on the head whilst bowling.

Excellent bowling performance by the Indians following a very ordinary batting display. I wonder if our bowlers can turn it on when the quality of batting from opposition goes up.

Getting comical at this point. Supposedly he's fine and it's just precautionary. Conway got concussed as well, decided he'd had enough and ran himself shortly thereafter.

Will have a lot to do with timing/canny declaration. You either want your best batsman out there once dusk settles or your innings just about wrapped up. 250 will be a really competitive score. Reckon India have showed there hand and will go with Pant for batting depth and an all out pace attack.

Crikey, at this rate Australia may have to look outside the squad for a pair of openers for the first test. Harris/Burns look way off it against Shami & Bumrah with the pink ball. Renshaw/Khawaja, hell, could Smarsh do any worse? Going to be fascinating.

What a bizarre game. 20 wickets in the first day, then both sides having bats flailing centuries under lights on days 2 & 3. Kinda ironic that the standout players for Aus A are both nowhere near the fringes of national selection, but still it was an impressive partnership by McDermott & Wildermuth who not only survived a pink ball barrage from Shami and a particularly brutal Bumrah but also counter-attacked. Great fun to watch.

Bizarre game, Day 1 carnage, Days 2 and 3 easy batting. But the Aussie openers still couldn't make hay. Burns looks unpickable on current form.
The Wade to open option with Green coming into the middle order isn't as daft as it first seemed. |

I think that's how it's going to go yeah. You can't pick Burns, and you can't not pick Green. They'll back in Harris on first-class form and make Wade a stop gap option. It's not going to be pretty.

I think during the Big Bash commentary today, Mark Waugh gave a left-field suggestion of Tim Paine opening in the first test.

And yet that still isn't one of the dumber things Mwaugh has said. Paine has a sound defensive technique and often faces the second new ball anyway, but burdening with the hardest ask for a batsman in test cricket on top of being captain & keeper is just ridiculous.

Langer confirming that if fit, Green will debut. Murmurs seem to be that Burns will be backed in as opener, with Wade likely to move up to partner him.

I'd think Indians won't mind Burns opening.

What's going on with Smith? A dodgy back apparently. I'd be surprised if he missed out. Any more up to date news MRNC?
