Bangladesh: Interesting article in the Indy

Read an interesting article in the Indy today. Apparently, Bangladesh only have three bowling machines in the whole country! In addition to this, they were apparently grated Test status far too soon- in 2000, they had no FC infrastructure and hardly any players beyond an elite few. Lastly, beyond the main grounds there are hardly any strips, hence the lack of practice opportunity.

With all this mind, it puts their decade long struggles into a new light.

Not really. Unless you're now suggesting they be demoted from test status?

We've known most of this, or at least the lack of first class cricket and facilities, for a while and it's why several do suggest Bang play fewer tests, or stop altogether, and concentrate playing teams more their level and building up their first class structure.

He did come back. After his spat with FS, he joined as some boparaisgod or something like that? I only noticed because I happened to see a post under his old name seconds before he fixed it.

Pont has apparently created a new type of a slower delivery that is called the Butterly which can be bowled by fast bowlers as well as the spinners. http://www.theindependentbd.com/spor...ricket-wc.html

I admit that Bangladesh has got only three bowling machines in their country. They lag behind other nations like India, England etc when it comes to sporting facilities but they have done tremendously well over the last few years. If my memory is correct they have even managed to defeat the mighty Australians recently.

Shakib and Tamim have been fired as captain and vice-captain respectively.

Mutterings are that Mushfiqur Rahim will get the captaincy gig. A lot of work for a top order wicketkeeper/batsman.

Can't see it being anyone but Mushfiqur, unless they give it to Ashraful again which would be a real backwards step. Another possible could be Mahmudullah, but they still can't find the right place for him in the team, as Mushfiqur is at 7.
