Ian Harvey should be a good signing for Twenty20. He's bound to return to haunt us.

Ridiculous decision. Although I don't understand why Wessels never bothered to qualify for England seeing as he played for so long.

Howgego is such a cool surname.

Why's it ridiculous?

I'm surprised Wessels didn't make it - I can only guess that he never actaully "resided" permanently in the UK.

"On 25 November 2003, the European Commission agreed on a directive designed to grant an EU status of long-term resident to third-country nationals who have legally resided for five years in the territory of a Member State.

Long-term residents will enjoy equal treatment to nationals in a number of areas of socioeconomic life:

* access to employment and self-employed activity;
* education and vocational training;
* social protection and assistance;
* access to goods and services, etc."

Northants have taken Durham player Luke Evans on loan to cover for an injury to Wigley.

The one bowler who you could say has suffered with Durham, simply because of the surfeit of more experienced players ahead of him - good to see him getting a chance elsewhere

Northants have signed Pakistani domestic player Mohammad Azharullah, who holds a UK passport.

He has played for the Multan Tigers, Quetta Bears, and the Water and Power Development Authority. I mean, how cool is that?

^^^^^

I hope Northants have the same luck as another 'overseas' player signed by a county from the Bradford League. The county were Sussex and the bowler was Rana Naveed. I think he did rather well for them.

Well, there's been no recognition on this forum or in the cricket media of the extraordinary turnaround in Northants' fortunes under David Ripley.

Last year, a completely disastrous season:

2 CC wins
1 t20 win
1 Pro40 win

This year so far:

Currently 2nd in CC division 2
Guaranteed to finish top of t20 group with 7 wins so far
2nd in CB40 group with 5 wins from 8

The signings of Crook, Copeland and Azharullah have all proved inspired and Andrew Hall and David Willey are both having excellent seasons.

Even if they don't win anything in the end it's a quite enormous improvement in a very short space of time - it would be if they were going well in one competition, but especially so to become competitive across all 3 competitions.

I heard the club offered Monty 7k per match on loan. This was agreed by Sussex. Smith welched on it. I ca't see himat WR next season. I would go with Whitey.

Ho ho.

Great to have a Northants fan on here at last. Exciting times for the club.

Do stick around, it gets lonely talking to oneself.
