If we're only allowed one overseas player next year, that must mean Chris Rogers isn't coming back. This season hasn't been great for him, but apart from that we've relied on an Aussie opener for runs for years. I'm a bit nervous about next year's batting.

It didnt help that CR broke his thumb so early into the season. He was a joy to watch when he was in full flow

We need to make some shrewd signings in the off season...Dawson has been awful this year, the signings this year haven't been all that great, but I think the fact that our spinning department has been pretty poor this year hasn't helped. Panesar and Brown together was usually a banker for 80 wickets a season, but Brown has been disappointing and Monty has been away with England.

I will be gutted if we get relegated from Pro40 Division 1 though, so let's hope the lads can come through and finish the season on a high.

Well, some good news at last, Andrew Hall has signed for us on a 3 year deal!

So will he be an overseas player or a Kolpak?

Kolpak as he has retired from international cricket. Think VDW will also be a Kolpak for the same reasons. It's a shame Wakely has faded a little bit in the season, but I was impressed with Graeme White in Sundays game and in general in the season, so I hope the trio of Wakely, White and Nelson will continue to play games next season to balance out all of these Kolpaks with up and coming English players.

I think of the current seam bowling attack of Wigley, Lucas, Klusener, David Wigley has been pretty decent to be honest picking up 34 wickets in 10 games at 27, can't grumble about that. The rest of them haven't been too good though, VDW aside (who also took 34 wickets, at a lower average). Logan and to a lesser extend Lucas have been awful though as has Dawson.

van der Wath, Boje, Klusener, Hall and Wessels. When you play against Warks with Botha, Carter, Groenewald, van Jaarsveld and Trott they will feel as if they are at home.

With Boje, Klusenar, Van der Wath and Hall there isn't exactly going to much chance for English bowlers to breakthrough at Northants next season! Have they all been signed on Kolpak deals?

If so Chris Rogers could return as overseas player next season.

We played the triumvirate of doom (Wigley, Logan, Lucas), who are all English and for the most part **** (although Wigley had a good season, so fair play).

We don't really have any English bowlers to break through though, only a couple of all rounders (White, Nelson) and also Wakely.

32 wickets in 9 CC games @29 isn't that bad really. That's one more wicket than VDW in the same amount of games at a better SR but slightly worse average. He also managed to average 22 with the bat.

He's hardly going to be a great player, but you can't moan too much at those statistics.

5 wickets at 43, economy 7...

Not so good in that format of the game, but in comparison with the rest of our team, not actually that bad, as only one regular player averaged below 30, and that was Boje with 11 wickets in 6 games at 18.

Will Northants make a bid for Ian Salisbury (born in Northampton)?

Interview with David Capel on the official site. Note the incisive questioning that can only be brought by a player on the fringe of the first team.
