Jennings has decided to leave Durham. Someone has suggested to Botham on Twitter that they pick Ben Curran, which I think is a great idea. That's who Lancs should be going for.

Lancs have signed Jennings on a four year deal.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for me to play Division One cricket at a Test match ground for a club, like Lancashire, with such a great history and tradition," Jennings said.

Division One cricket at a Test Match ground ..... presumably said the same when he joined Durham.

Has he got a clause in his contract that if Lancs go down he can leave?

So many departures. It's a good job Durham don't have a game next week.

Otherwise we'd have to find out the squad from every other county website.

Keaton Jennings out for 9 today. Good luck Lancs, Notts might have dodged one there.

That's what I thought, lucky Notts.

Well, maybe not that lucky as he was never coming here if we fail to get promoted. And promotion looks a long way off right now.

Steve Magoffin is joining Worcestershire. Question marks over his fitness having missed most of the season with three different injuries at 37/38, but if he is fit he is still excellent. Not a surprise that Sussex are looking to move on with the younger quicks.

That is an interesting signing.

When fit he's still good enough for the first division but I don't think he would get near Sussex's first XI next season - Jordan, Archer, Robinson, Garton and Whittingham are a truly exciting quintet and represent Sussex's future.

Worcs obviously hope he can be their new Alan Richardson who had a golden end to his career at New Road at 38/39 years old.

Good luck to him...

It's gone very quiet on players moving counties. At this time of the year, the news wires are usually busy with announcements. We've had hardly any and the only major rumours have been Coles to Essex and Billings to Notts, neither of which will happen, I hope.

There seem to be quite a number of players who were released at the end of 2017 who look like they may not get fixed up and could drift out of the game. One of Kent's released players - only 24 years old -is apparently fitting window blinds for a living.

It was busier back in the summer with players switching counties with immediate effect (Kohler-Cadmore, Robson, Sibley, Clarke, Hose to name but five off the top of my head who weren't even loans but full-scale mid-season transfers).

This seems to be a new phenomenon. Has there been some sort of rule change this year to facilitate these moves? I first noticed it when Kohler-Cadmore went from Worcs to Yorks and thought it was a bit early to be approaching out-of-contract players, then it turned out to be an immediate transfer on a long-term contract.

The Sibley-Clarke swap was announced as a mutually convenient loan arrangement after the two players had agreed moves for next season when their contracts expired. I doubt Surrey would have released Sibley without getting Clarke in return - Alec Stewart was so unhappy about losing him he almost started making controversial remarks to the media!

I think it is a new concept, certainly can't remember one which happened as early as Kohler-Cadmore.

I don't think that it's been thought through and still wonder there should be some sort of cup-tied basis added to such mid-season transfers.

Hose, Clarke and Sibley all ended up playing half their T20 competition for both their previous and new county - even playing against their previous county.
