Phil Mustard has joined Lancashire on loan for their last 2 games.

Buttler was clearly a no... Shame for Davis who has had a good season especially in the T20 campaign.

He's tweeted that he will be back at Durham next year.

Says a lot about Lancs' youth development.

Unless Buttler's understudy is an injury doubt this seems a bit pointless given that they've already been promoted. If Mustard has no intention of making the moved permanent surely better to go with someone who will be there next year and give him some experience? Or will Lancs be looking to recruit an experienced new keeper in the winter given Buttler's frequent international commitments?

With Buttler largely unavailable, Alex Davies has been ever present for the first team this year. Lancs' second XI keeping duties have been shared by 20 year old Ashley Gowers and Staffordshire's Alex Mellor, mainly the former who is ex-Lancs Academy and appears to have improved a great deal in the last year or two, having been with Lancs since he was 11. His uncle John Simpson was also passed over for a more senior recruit: Luke Sutton.

I thought that was a typo about being Simpson's nephew cricinfo doesn't list it but did check it. Reminds me of Ian Harte and Gary Kelly.

Rumours around of a move for Michael Lumb to Lancashire or Durham.

Durham are interested but I'd prefer someone like Wayne Madsen whose name has also been mentioned.

Essex are releasing Greg Smith, Matt Salisbury, Saf Imtaz and Monty Panesar.

Will anyone want Monty?

Anyone interested would really need to first know the whys and wherefores of what has happened to him this season.

Obviously in normal circumstances a spinner of that quality would be a huge asset to a side, especially in Division 2. But it goes without saying that the other side of the coin would be if he was signed and problems surfaced that meant he couldn't play.

Some of kind of pay as you play contract might suit both parties in this instance.

If Foster retires they won't have a keeper either.

Who wants Jonathan Clare? Derbys have released him. I certainly would prefer him at Lancs instead of Jordan Clarke.

would you? 30 next year, 4 years older than Clark. Never seen him play, myself. Was originally picked out to join Lancs Academy (12 years ago) as a potential first class player, which of course turned out to be true. Had injury problems back in those days as well.

Good player but too late for a Lancs career. Suspect he'll still turn out at Burnley next season.

why?

Back in the day he was a real prospect but injuries have left his bowling anything but threatening. Derbyshire had little option but to release him really given his injury record.

June 2015
Worsley Cup holders Burnley are through to the semi finals thanks to the record-breaking feats of Jonathan Clare.

The Burnley batsman, re-wrote the record books with a mighty score of 199 - the best ever by an amateur batsmen in the Worsley Cup in the current limited overs format.

Clare smashed 14 sixes and 17 fours - losing five balls in the process - as Burnley beat Ramsbottom in an epic cup clash.
