Why?

What are you expecting to see that will invalidate Hobart's example of what can be achieved?

Sadly I don't have any figures for before/after Big Bash to show the extra interest that it is generating.

Do I? What words or phrases in my post you quoted denote excitement?

Or are you trying to argue that the weather is better in England or that the English population is not spread over many more cities and towns?
I'm arguing that all the reasons you give as to why it wouldn't work in England apply at least as much, if not more, to Hobart who still get higher attendances than any Blast side.

When you say ALL I would be interested to know which you actually include. Or is the national sport starting in August not relevant? Cricket is far more profile in Oz than here.

maybe I should cite the attendance at the Boxing Day test And say we should copy re tests? They get more in one day than attend most tests over here.

I don't really get the population demographic argument. If we're saying we can't have franchises because it would concentrate teams in only a few centres of population and restrict access to many fans, shouldn't we stop playing in places like Chelmsford, Canterbury, Worcester and move those teams to Sheffield, Liverpool, Oxford or Plymouth?

The national sport starting in August isn't relevant to matches in July.

Bizarre that two they select aren't even close to the England T20 side any more. Can only come to the conclusion that the Big Bash isn't about real quality, it's more about names.

That's the same about all of those leagues to be honest. How many mediocre Aussie and Saffer players get a gig in the IPL who are nowhere near their national team's t20 squad. To be honest I doubt the likes of Kleinveldt and Levi will still be interesting the sharper end of those leagues either, especially those who take fielding rather seriously, but they've just won the Blast. I realise that they are Kolpakers rather than overseas but even so.

Ian bell has tweeted a picture of his new Perth scorchers helmet. I wonder how GBG will be able to keep saying franchises are great etc when the most successful side in the history of the BBL will have bell as their star overseas man. Good luck with that one

Can someone explain how our England players seldom turn out for their County sides because they need to be rested from too much cricket, yet are allowed to play in overseas competitions during what is our off season. Shouldn't they be on a beach or relaxing at home getting fully rested ? Then maybe they could play more than 5 days without needing the next two weeks off.

1. I haven't said franchises are great but merely debunked much of the nonsense you've spouted about them.
2. Sean Dundee was once Liverpool's big signing.
3. Perth Scorchers have Heather Graham on their roster.
4. They seem to be using Andrew Flintoff to sell tickets more than Ian Ronald Bell on their website.

Do you ever wonder if he argues like this in real life?

1. You have and you haven't.
2. Lol
3. So?
4. What has that got to do with the playing staff (unless he is playing but I thought he wasn't)

Who is arguing? Just pointing out some facts.

The one truism is that franchise doesn't really play in big bash because there are more of them than first class sides so not creating two tier system of farce.

You've got no. 1 the wrong way round.

On 4, I don't know. I was surprised to see a photo of him. Tenuous links seems to be your speciality so I thought you might know.

What about IPL when there are fewer franchises than FC teams?

Doesn't this depend on whether you believe that the domestic competitions are sub-standard but that international competitions are what we need to be aiming at because they increase the skills and standard of our players - in a variety of playing conditions? Or is it to do with alllowing them to earn more money? Or both?

Jordan wasn't selected for Bangladesh so he may well not be selected for India either but I expect Willey will (especially if Jordan doesn't and with Wood injured) so he'll miss the second half of the BB.

I'm guessing the BB is going to be shown on BT sport this year?
