Nightwatchmen. I would pick a player like Smith who has potential batting ability but can't really make use of it down the order. Picking a number 11 slows down the scoring or is a quick wicket the next day.

Nice 26* for Smith today. What batting position do you think he'll end up filling?

Probably number 8, but he does have potential to be a number 7, but nothing higher.

This week, they might be playing in one of this weekends FPT games.

At long last we have won a game.

Horton deserves to keep his place.

I guess Sutcliffe would be the logical person to make way as Horton is at least the right side of 30 and deserves a chance.

Sutcliffe has had scores of 4, 9, 2 and 3 so far this season. Dunno how he'd keep his place when Hodge comes back, unless they don't want Loye to open.

Squad for tomorrow:

Mark Chilton (cpt), James Anderson, Glen Chapple, Dominic Cork, Steven Croft, Andrew Flintoff, Brad Hodge, Paul Horton, Gary Keedy, Mal Loye, Sajid Mahmood, Simon Marshall, Tom Smith, Luke Sutton.

After last week it is disappointing that Cross has been dropped as he played some fantastic shots. I would like to see the following team tomorrow:

Loye, Chilton, Hodge, Horton, Flintoff, Sutton, Chapple, Cork, Mahmood, Anderson, Keedy.

I would see youngsters Croft, Marshall and Smith on the sidelines. After our abject batting displays Horton has to play and I'm no fan of Flintoff at 5 but we have enough bowling.

The one day game is where we develop the younger players and Hogg shouldn't be left out as he had been doing well and always plays. Mahmood could swop with Smith for the game the next day.

Well he is not in the squad so either something is wrong with him or Watkinson is doing some squad rotation. If they lose tomorrow they are as good of out of the competition so he may well change the squad for Monday on the basis of the result on Sunday.

Was it only last season that we went weeks before losing a game in any competition? Or am I just imagining it?

Nice to see a lovely sunny day today and no cricket. I can't help feeling there'll be a change in the weather tomorrow..

Typical isn't it? The weather forecast for tomorrow according to the Beeb has improved on Wednesday Sunday was looking wet. Now it is cloudy with some bursts of sunshine which looks a little more positive.

I have nightmares every time we have a run chase. I also think Chapple would be better opening the bowling rather than Cork.

I can never understand why our bowlers don't have a slip when they return for their second spell or when a new batsman comes in.

Why on earth was Cork fielding at backward point?
Why didn't Croft have a bowl?
Can we afford to have so many all rounders?

I suspect that Watkinson doesn't have the bottle to rest either Cork or Chapple when Lancs have Anderson, Mahmood and Flintoff avaliable. Had Law been avaliable it could have been a close call.

Squad for tomorrow at the Rose Bowl -

The starting XI will be announced on the morning of the match
Chilton (Cpt), Anderson, Chapple, Cork, Flintoff, Hodge, Horton, Keedy, Law, Loye, Mahmood, Smith, Sutton.

I just can't understand why Newby, our leading wicket taker is not included. Newby has 14 wickets, Cork 4 and Smith 3.

- No Newby, it's ridicolous, I'd have him in there ahead of Chapple/Cork/Mahmood. I can give you tomorrow's starting XI now

Chilton
Loye
Law
Hodge
Horton
Flintoff
Sutton
Cork/Chapple/Mahmood
Anderson
Keedy

At least they've dropped Sutcliffe and kept Horton in the squad (who should of played yesterday).

Hampshire look like they will have a very strong line up - well I am guessing as I can't see the squad anywhere and they bat all the way down -

Adams
Brown
Lumb
Pietersen
Ervine
Pothas
Mascarenhas
Warne
Clark
Tremlett
Bruce
