Thanks Rey - I searched the Durham website but didn't think of googling!

You never see him now. Drink problems probably.

I was wondering if the mascots will be allowed at Lords next Saturday...

I know Otis Gibson is a half decent bat, but Plunkett really needs to be batting 8 for Durham.

That's from an England, not a Durham perspective.

I see that the Durham players have finally woken up. Apparently they didn't get back to Durham until about 1:30 am. Harmison seems to have started bowling badly 2 going for 17 but has got it back a little!

The pitch inspectors will be lurking with the amount of first day wickets.

Won't be any points deductions. Poor batting rather than the pitch

Just found out that today's game v Worcester will be Chanderpaul's last for the club this season as he has to prepare for WI's challenge in the 20/20 WC.

It seems to be the last game of the season for a number of the overseas players. It is Murali's last game for Lancs at the mo.

Its going to get to the point where overseas players are not worth signing due to the demands of the international calender.

Not that it will stop the Counties. Can't see the point of signing someone for a handful of games.

Despite the fact there are only a handful of games left this season, Durham are looking for an overseas player to replace Chanderpaul.

There's still plenty to play for so I can understand why they would look, but I can't see where the quality is going to come from with the 2020 WC about to start and at such short notice. Some random Australian I would guess (not a policy that has served Durham well in the past).

It sounds a little glib, but it would please me if they didn't bother and passed the batting responsibility to Coetzer, Muchall and Harmison who have all proven to be capable at various times this season.

Great news for Durham. As WI are out of the 20/20, Chanderpaul returns for the final match of the season

Its now looking likely DiVenuto won't return next season.

Terrific. We lose our best bowler and best batsman at the same time.

Maty - I think Di Venuto would have signed on an Italian passport and so wouldn't have been classified as overseas. So it wasn't really a choice of Di Venuto OR Chanderpaul.

As for losing your opening batsmen and opening bowler now you know how Sussex fans feel with Montgomerie having retired and Rana having signed for Yorkshire as their overseas player.

I'd have Diva simply because we are weak in the opening department. Thats why we had to play the untried Stoneman for the second half of the season.

Chanderpaul is a decent replacement, stubborn middle order batsman. He would definitely be my second choice.
