Shambles!
Words fail me, don't know what to write which hasn't been written already or without recourse to scarcasm. What I'd give to interview Allott and Chapple, together, now about the latest recruitment and selection. Wonder, if they are on the same page?

Still maybe Maharaj will rescue the batting tomorrow.

I see they are still intent on sending Bohannon in at 8. Will anyone be left to bat with him?

Well we got past the 150 (just)
Worcester already got enough on the board 2nd knock to make another defeat inevitable
The bowlers must be devastated - time and again knocking teams over for low-end scores (typified by this match where bowling Worcs out for 222 having won the toss and batted) only to be let down by Sunday XI batting
Do Lancashire actually have a batting coach???
Allott (DoC) - bowler
Chappell Head Coach - bowler
Yates - Academy chief - bowler
Not rocket science is it??

Mark Chilton is the assistant Head Coach
Chris Benbow 2nd XI coach

see towards the bottom of the page: http://cricket.lancashirecricket.co.uk/club/officers/

Apparently Allott was on the radio last night saying, in effect, everything was fine:

Said "Khan and Watt were signed purely for T20, no batsmen we wanted were available, we only lost by 6 runs against the champions elect so we are not far off, we have reached the final of the richest day in cricket so it's not all bad"

Lancashire had previously announced that Khan and Watt had been contracted for the "rest of the season."

How on earth can you justify abject performances by looking at the result in one match?
I could rhyme off the details of many defeats and equally argue (more convincingly I would suggest) that we ARE, in fact a million miles off!! And surprise surprise it really is the money that matters
Here we go again - Mark Chilton (ex player)
Chris Benbow - no great pedigree - Minor Counties representative

as discussed earlier, it's no surprise that ex-players are involved but all Lancs' recent success has come under outsiders (Giles and Moores).

Didn't realise Benbow had played Minor County level. He has been involved in Lancs coaching since 2012 previously lecturer and coach at Myerscough College. His playing career included Lancashire age groups including the U17s in 1996. Club cricket in the Lancashire and Bolton leagues looks more like a bowler from his stats:

http://www.lancashireleague.com/Play...BOW_CHRIS.html

hopefully they will try and rebuild in the second division, rather than short term signings to yo-yo back like after the last couple of relegations.

You have to laugh or you'd cry - I thought for a minute they'd reversed the batting order because the bowlers have been getting more runs than the top order
Time for a Clear Out from top to bottom!

They had only needed one person to put his hand up at the Oval, in the way Vilas did today.

Great first time at Southport. Terrific run chase. I would like to know weather players prefer playing at packed out grounds or empty Test grounds where a more negative outlook from spectators can prevail. I'm on a mini Tour of the North. Next week Notts v Yorkshire. Then The Roses clash at Headingley. A relegation dogfight, you won't be getting this with a conference system

Wow, great effort to win from there.

Poor Worcs.

Lancashire won! Get in!

(My support for Lancs is a bit arbitrary but sincere. I chose them as my team to manage in Cricket Captain 2000 and have been following their results whenever I can ever since)

Paul Allott went on record couple of days ago that they signed Maharaj because there was no international quality batsman available:

@stephanshemilt
Liam Livingstone, on his comeback from injury, has made 214 not out playing for Cheadle in the North Staffs & South Cheshire League today.

Here we go again - win toss, bat, 99 all out at Taunton of all places - supposedly one of the best batting tracks in the land. Mind you they haven't fared much better! Think there might be a result here - Many will be batting again tonight and will no doubt be 36 for 4 at the close! I am somewhat bemused by the fact that Chanderpaul (who must be on a shed-load of money) is absent again - has he gone home?
True, he's done no better than the rest but at the moment we just need someone who can hang around and stay at the crease. So what if he doesn't score quickly - our games are not lasting far beyond a couple of days at the moment anyway
Another shoddy showing for a "must win" game

Taunton aka Cyderbad hasn't been one of the best batting tracks for a while now, not that that excuses what seems to have been another poor Lancs performance.

Agreed, GBG.

But the missing question to me is not the Chanderpaul question but the Hameed position.

Hameed made in his test runs in .... India
India's top bowlers in that series Ashwin and Jadeja
Hameed plays spin well.
Chanderpaul was left out at S&B in favour of youth (Jones and Hameed both like Chanderpaul lacking confidence and form)
Hameed was then dropped at Taunton of all places.
Brown brought in for first game since 2016
Smacks of panic selection

incidentally Hameed was also dropped for the Somerset game at Old Trafford on a batting paradise where even Lancs managed over 400. Hardly help Hameed's return to form, or confidence, do they.

Just what we need - another bowler! - nothing against the lad himself (Gleeson) just not what is required at this moment in time - Allott incompetent
You couldn't make it up but the boys (bowlers of course) going well up to now across the Pennines

Well today was very much sh1t or bust and it looks very much like the latter going into tomorrow (unless the bowlers can rescue us again by batting better than the batters!!?)

pretty much expected it. How many times have they collapsed this season. They only needed two batsmen to stand up and put in a 100+ run partnership and 230 would have more than possible.

How many matches has someone from the top six made a match winning contribution. Twice: Jennings against Notts and Vilas against Worcester the other week. Once a season isn't good enough.

pretty honest assessment:

https://twitter.com/BBCLancsCricket/...39351512326148

He says that 500 runs isn't enough. Only 3 of the top six got that far:
Croft: 263
Chanderpaul: 257
Livingstone: 214
Hameed: 165

Only three players scored centuries.

Lancashire hierarchy have a history of not liking being in Division 2 so expect recruitment of kolpaks and mega-star overseas for immediate return. Think Katich, Prince, Petersen. Slim chance they will accept a two year rebuilding stay.

Rumours of Joe Clarke joining (if the division one status retained) pretty much ruined.
