BBC Local Radio Commentaries ALL MATCHES ALL COUNTIES

BBC Newcastle is to broadcast full commentary of all Durham's fixtures both home & away. This is a big increase on last year. Apparently Local Radio has got the money from the sports budget.
JUST BEEN TOLD IT'S ALL MATCHES ALL COUNTIES

That is really excellent news. I don't know what's happening at the other counties, though I'm pretty certain Surrey will be continuing.

Anyway, I'm sure to be tuning into some of the Durham games as just to have a commentary on in the background all day is wonderful.

That's good news - the cuts at the BBC looked like they were going to mean curtains for county cricket commentary. I know Solent only have the budget for the one day games but at least it means that decisions can still be taken locally.

I'm told by the guy at Radio Newcastle that there will be a press release in the next few days, but it's 'ALL COUNTIES ALL MATCHES'

Yep - when I saw the press release yesterday afternoon I ate my words about local decision making!

Sounds like good news though.
