Indeed, England made the most of favourable bowling conditions, despite the unfortunate performance of the slip cordon during the first part of the innings. The bowlers kept up the pressure and got their rewards.

Good to have your comments, MC, and hope your mother is okay.

Sibley seemed to be stretching for a chance that Burns would have stood a better chance of taking; it appeared to me that they were standing too close together. The Burns drop was a real howler. When you look at how many runs were added before Abid Ali eventually departed we might have more or less polished them all off by now. Whilst the bowlers performed well the team might have been in a stronger position by now. Burns and Sibley owe the team a partnership, which will use up time that may be precious if the wet weather continues.

Good point about the positioning of the slips. They missed having Stokes in there, no doubt. It was also unfortunate the umpire missed the faint nick taken by Buttler. I don't subscribe to the view that unanimity of all parties during an appeal should hold any sway in the umpire's decision-making. Still, 5 down after half a day's interrupted play was a decent haul after losing the toss.

That was a disappointing hour. If it doesn't get any better I'll be looking forward to the rain.

There was another drop by Jos earlier down the leg side, he had a bit of ground to cover to get to it but it didn't look too difficult to me.

Always seems to be one lower order batsman making it difficult for our bowlers.

Yup not good and not sure why he's getting a third over with the new nugget as he's already bowled 6 on the bounce anyway.

Usually Shane Warne gets on my nerves but he’s been talking total sense since the new ball was taken. Why can’t England polish off the tail quickly?

Pakistan batsmen might be a bit miffed with the bad light as they were going so well.

Why did he get the new ball in the first place?

Because for a while, he can make the case that he's legitimately England's best bowler in home conditions. It wasn't unreasonable for him to start off with the new ball. However, he bowled jizz and Anderson should have come on sooner.

Let's get this number 11 out before Rizwan gives it the long handle.

Remember when the bowling speeds were shown on the perimeter boards a few years ago? They should do that with light meter readings.
