England v Pakistan, 3rd Test at The Ageas Bowl, Southampton, 21-25 August 2020

EBC considering flexible playing times

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/53833613

Not sure starting a little earlier will make a huge difference, it's the play lost throughout the day causes the problems.

Also think it would be harsh to blame "bad light", they didn't come close to finishing the 1st innings' let alone concluding the match (with a win/loss or nearing completion match)

Do wish they'd give a little less airtime to Michael Vaughan's opinion, I can draw very clear conclusions what gave him the idea of using pink balls - been playing with his no doubt.

Looking forward to the rain & bad light, and umpires ****ing about in getting play started after delays.

On a more serious note, due to the lack of play in the second Test, should there be any rotation of the bowlers. Possession is 9/10th's of the law.

As there was so little play can you fairly judge if those who played are 'the best'.....?

Might be a question, depending on weather forecast, if playing Bess isn't pointless... (didn't bat or bowl in 1.5 innings in the last Test)

Would be nice if Mark Wood got a game

The weather forecast isn't brilliant, seems to be largely showery. There should be more play than last time though.

not too surprising, only real surprising thing is when England chose to play a different squad in the one dayers why they didn't start the Test series earlier... given different opponents to boot

They asked a good question the other day in the chat during the rain, does Pakistan coming over here now during the Covid crisis mean it's likely that England will tour Pakistan soon in return? Plenty of English players have played in the PSL so they can't really use security concerns as an excuse. I hope we do go over there some time to give the country a boost.

Thankfully Sky never approached him.

Dominic Cork, who has been involved with the PSL, is strongly encouraging England to go to Pakistan.

Light will be ok, they just won't want to stand out in the gale all day so start will be delayed no matter what the weather.

Chris Broad has just been asked about the abysmal over rate of 12.1 this season, and then ignored the question to say that the cricket has been exciting enough (obviously excluding the Rose Bowl)!!

Ah that's a shame, I'm going to have to change my opinion now.

Burns turning a bit Dave Warner at the moment.
