So no more domestic 50 over cricket before the World Cup in 9(?) months time.

first honours of the season go to vic who beat tas by 110 runs in 50 over final. vic 274 d tas 164. cam white (88) for vic, gurinder sandhu 7-56 for tas including hatrick and 4 wkts in last over. a very unsatisfactory comp in my opinion. vic only won 2 of 5 group matches (every state qualified for semi finals) and advanced on net run rate by 0.02 over nsw when their qualifying final was a washout. it was a wednesday final at junction oval, starting at 10.30am, not conducive for spectators. maybe cricket aust. spoke to colin graves about scheduling. i am a tas supporter so i am not happy.

last year had 7 teams competing, the extra team being a cricket australia x1(made up of young and promising players). each team played each other once. the top team went straight through to the final(wa who won it) and second and third place had a knockout game to play wa. this year vic finished 4th in round robin winning only 2 games and queensland who only won 1 match beat sa who finished third to win their qualifiying final. which meant you could have lost every round robin game and still lifted the trophy. all in all a pigs breakfast.

although he is unlikely to play due to tas win over qld last week, tasmania have added to their 13 man squad for the shield game at the waca the wonderfully named CHARLIE WAKIM. a 27 year old from nsw, a batsman.

it conjures up some great other cricket names and combinations like

caught fiddling, caught beet b root (once in 1913) and most recently
caught mustard b onions.

sorry, it is a quite day.

In 1991, West Indies enjoyed playing England and feasting on a Lamb Ramparakash for the first four Tests. For the final Test, the menu was changed with Beef replacing Lamb.
