Anyway Perth vs Hobart coming up, Bresnan vs Archer.
And adding to the confusion, Travis Head has been released to play for Adelaide yet Short hasn't for Hobart.

Is Andrew Strauss in charge of Aussie Cricket too?

Turns out the Hurricanes didn't need Short with the bat as they've posted an imposing 210-4. Can Archer now turn it on with the ball to defend it?

I have to say I'm pretty shocked that Hobart beat Perth that easily.

Funny we were talking about conflicts with the Australian team as Head who got released for the other semi this morning has just scored 85 to take Adelaide to 178.

I don't think getting Internationals back did Perth any favours. Mitch Marsh went for 53 in his 4 overs and then offered nothing with the bat either.

The Marsh's are well the Marsh's and that was the first T20 this year for either of them. Not really the same though as neither of the Marsh's are in the Australia T20 squad so they haven't really been released. I guess Perth would have liked Willey and especially Tye released rather than the Marsh brothers.

That was a great match. Boof Jr must be relieved after having a mare in the field. The Adelaide Oval when full is the best ground in the world.

Yup nice to have a close one after yesterdays blowout.

I've always thought his batting was over rated but I didn't realise he was that bad catching (not sure what he was doing on the second one as he completely took his eyes off the ball for a second).

Quite pleased to see the 2 W Indian mercenaries not make the final.

Hope the Hurricanes can win it.

Contrary to premature reports of its demise the Big Bash has had 1.1m fans and counting through the gates this year.

Considering it's been going on with an Ashes tour going on at the same time that's pretty impressive.

Archer has pulled out of the Hong Kong Blitz with an ankle injury. If I was him I'd skip the PSL too and be sure to be fit for the IPL.

Root and Buttler have signed for the Sydney Thunder. (7 games)
Rashid - Melbourne Stars
Denly - Sydnety Sixers

Mail
There is no room in the Big Bash for Ben Stokes, as predicted by Sportsmail, with Australian clubs reluctant to hire him after their own players in Steve Smith and David Warner were treated so harshly in their ball-tampering scandal.

Australians did not want to be seen to be hiring Stokes, who was last week cleared of affray in Bristol Crown Court but who faces a disciplinary commission, while their own players were serving year-long suspensions.
---

Root has been told he cannot put himself forward for any places that may become available in IPL squads next April to allow him to rest ahead of the huge challenges next summer.

Interestingly, the same does not appear to apply to Buttler even though he now plays in all formats for England.

It is questionable whether Root should play in any Twenty20 franchise cricket at a time when he has so much on his plate and could do with concentrating on both his batting and captaincy at Test level.

Root playing a bit of cricket away from the pressures of England would do him good.

You don't think that being an overseas player at the Big Bash will have any pressure? There is all the travelling as well. In the last year Root has played 42 matches. Broad has played 14. I suppose he will be going to the Big Bash too.
