Another county marvel just lacking that extra 5-10 mph to be an international player.

Rossouw got a duck I see. He's been abysmal since joining them.

Think Hants are on top though. Looks like a pitch that's offered a lot - although that's mainly down to the inclement weather, I'd posit - and striking twice already is a boost. Still, Head, Clarke and Mitchell are all yet to be removed and they're probably the three big guns for Worcs.

Yes, dominating now with their completely non-English bowling attack. Oh wait, Dawson has bowled an over at least.

Yorkshire called off again due to a wet outfield. Becoming a persistent problem at Headingley, time they found a way of solving it.

Has it not got a drainage system?

Apparently not. Certainly no means of removing surface water. Given the pitch is on a slope it should be easy.

It's a reflection of the modern county game that whilst Hants have a vast selection of non-English players, the sum total still can't hold a candle to B.Richards + Greenidge + Roberts.

Obviously Amla and Steyn are/were great players, although far past their peak, but otherwise I agree.

The trio you name were exceptional players. So were a good few others who played county cricket a few years ago.

My view was, and remains, that far from inhibiting English players' progress to Test standards, they actually improved the quality of those who mad the transition.

That's very much my view as well, Comte. If you work alongside the best in any field, surely your own standard has a very good chance of improving?

And those dudes were present all season long in every format.

Olly Stone back fit and taken all 5 Sussex wickets to fall thus far this innings - 3 with short balls, one nice outswinger and decent pace. England will be watching on with interest...

Oops, wrong thread. Old habits...

No problem with drainage according to Yorkshire. But then they would say that wouldn't they?

Anyway, this is the third game this season I've had to miss because of the weather. There's another game at Headingley next week...will I get to see some cricket fourth time?

There obviously is a big problem with drainage or we would have had some play before now. Imagine if this had been a test match.

Well, the weather has been pretty bad...but I would have thought there would have been play by now.

2 failures for Hameed against relegation favourites Notts. He’s got a lot of work to do to get close to England selection IMHO.
