Cricket is horrible. Check score 5 mins before lunch 71/2. Get home ten mins later 71/4. Darn it. Come on Somerset.

Nash has had a bit of a nightmare start for Notts. What's happened to Billy Root?

Play not resumed at the Oval. What's happening down there?

Curran Jr making up for lost time at The Oval, removing Root almost immediately. Yorks 41-4 and, missing Ballance, in a bit of strife. Hoping that an attractive final day might be being set up.

I take it you may be there tomorrow but aren't there today? Foakes spilled a difficult low chance from Bairstow, who's going like a train, but he's just held a similar one to remove Brook.

Yorkshire's batting frailties to the fore, batsmen getting in and then getting out. Hope Root bats better against Pakistan in the test series than he's done in the county games. Have to make 265 to make surrey bat again which looks a long way off.

Curran really at his best so far today. Should have had Bairstow with an absolute jaffer but just a millimetre from the edge.

Yeah, if it looks like a final day with purpose, I'll aim to be there. Sounds like Bairstow has been given a similar counterattacking remit as in the Essex game.

He could have a century before lunch the way he's going, although Dernbach almost had him c&b with a slower ball.

Well, that's the closest Worcs have come to a win this season but they still came up 33 runs short against Essex. A gallant lone hand by Travis Head and five wickets apiece for Siddle and Harmer. Essex shoot up to second place while Worcs remain anchored at the bottom with just 25 points from five games.

This is why we prepare turning pitches. If we don't they simply become a road. Poor bowlers.

It's been a bit flakey this season, hasn't it? Although it's not the only batting line up to have experienced early season troubles. Alas, Yorks' strife today has meant I won't be going along to The Oval tomorrow; a cab both ways is a pricey gamble on a contest that could feasibly be over in an hour.

I wasn't intending to go but as Surrey are well placed to win, the weather forecast is decent, and it's the last day of Championship cricket at the Oval for more than 3 months, I've decided to reschedule/put-off other stuff.

Surrey are a bowler light with McKerr off the field after bowling only 3 overs in the match but Virdi's off-spin plus the contrasting styles of Clarke, Dernbach and Sam Curran should hopefully be enough to winkle out the remaining 5 wickets soon enough to knock off a small target.

Sam Curran's first 10fer

Root got out to two 19 year olds. Virdi and Curran.

Looks like the visitors were keen to get away onto the M1 as soon as possible !

I understand that this is Surrey's first CC win over Yorkshire for 18 years. Some way to do it, an almighty thrashing.
