Kent have signed Overseas International Fast bowler shock...

http://www.kentcricket.co.uk/news/ke...ional-paceman/

OK, well I didn't say he was an Aussie or Saffer!

Still, a left arm bowler will always be useful variety!

Kent membership rates for 2019 announced - we're going to be in Division 1 but most prices are DOWN! I didn't see that coming!

Renew or join before 31/12/2018 to get the lowest prices

Still likely to be slightly pricier than Essex...and I get a free Companion's pass at Chelmsford.

Good interview with Matt Walker here, discussing this season, recruitment for next year etc. Well worth a listen for all Kent supporters:

K*nt extend Matt Walker's contract
https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/46044018

I can't help but think this will make it more expensive to pay him off next year.

Does he become an overseas player when we leave the EU? I’ve no idea what the rules are.

It's a good question! I asked a top city lawyer I know about the impact of Brexit on Kolpak players (thinking about Heino Kuhn) and he thought those here with contracts to play should be OK to play providing they didn't change their status.... But that was just an opinion and a court case might be needed (he said). For players on EU passports (like Stewart as well) the uncertainty must be worrying.

If he was born in Haywards Heath then he would be able to play as a local I'd have thought.

Should be able to (I hope), but being born in the UK on its own doesn't guarantee a UK passport these days, does it...

A very honest article about Kent's most successful home grown player this century, Rob Key:

There's an extensive interview with Sam Billings in this week's Cricket Paper.

In it, he says:

"At the moment it's just great I'm playing some cricket if I'm honest. Over the last few years I've been starved of cricket and that's probably halted my development a bit."

I don't know what to make of that but it's an interesting thing to say.

I haven't read the article, but I imagine it's referring to time spent as 12/13th man for various England squads. And it's certainly a view I've heard expressed by Kent supporters at games.

He's not the only one. Tom Curran barely played until the final month of last season. This is a 23 year old who played almost every Championship match during the previous three seasons, as well as most of Surrey's 20 and 50 overs matches. How is he supposed to improve or develop carrying drinks in the IPL or for England?

Thank you for giving a heads up on a relevant article and taking the time to provide that snippet. This is an issue I have been discussing with somebody elsewhere. The fact that providing info in this way has led to further comment is something that should not go unnoticed!

excellent signing. i'm sure if he does nearly as well as he did for somerset last year, no kent fan will be disappointed.

one thing is for sure, expect a run hungry batsman, as he will be desperate to show langer what he can do.

Given the increasing disdain with which the ECB seems to treat the County Championship, with the best English players becoming available for fewer and fewer matches, I couldn't really care less anymore.

However, having been expected to pay the crown jewels for an Ashes ticket, I'm happy that someone is trying to ensure that the opposition is well practiced.
