Just to add, Hampshire has just announced there will be no on site public car parking for the game - it's all waterlogged! What a nightmare (well, not compared to Worcestershire's problems, but still...)

Yeah saw that on the website earlier. Have no idea what we're going to do when we go down there on Thursday and Friday!

They did let some members park on there today because it was a bit drier but ended up with some of them having to be towed off!

(the press guy told me I could park on site as I could help with the towing - at last somebody who appreciates my 4WD )

Yeah I was down there today actually in the end. We just drove up expecting to be turned away but parked up on the pavement.

Griffiths did quite well today I thought in his brief spell. Fairly pacey for someone of his size!

Well Ervine's back but I'm no sure he's totally fit. Mind you, he did get a superb ball from Swann so it's hard to tell...

And well done to the old boy as everyone keeps calling John Crawley. Most unfair when he's only 35!

Lumb fails again. I didn't shed many tears when he left us, and Hants are discovering why.

He actually looked in reasonable form today. Struck a couple of nice straight drives.

Not a great fan of his though to be honest.

I don't think he's been too bad for us, tbh. And anyway I think we have more competition for first team bowling places than batting at the moment. Even with Tremmers away we can't play Griffiths and Tomlinson... and Ervine's fit again too.

Tomlinson isn't good enough so we shouldn't play him anyway and Ervine's bowling is absolute dross these days. He'll replace Mascarenhas in the Championship side though when he's playing for England.

Adams should come into the middle order in place of Benham. He seems to scoring runs in the 2nds and wasn't even doing that badly in the 1st team before he was dropped. Well, he was doing better than Lumb and Benham anyway.

I totally disagree about Tomlinson - he is so much improved this season. Griffiths only got in ahead of him because he was injured. However it looks as though Griffiths is keeping his place (no wonder).

Well Michael Lumb has just made his first century for Hampshire - at a run a ball!

By the look of the team they've fielded at Hove, this is the dress rehearsal for the FP Final next Saturday.

Well, back to Championship action then away at Lancashire. Really need to win this to keep our title hopes alive but I doubt we've ever won at Old Trafford in my lifetime.

Hampshire (from): Brown, Carberry, Crawley, Lumb, Benham, Pothas, Warne, Griffiths, Powell, Bruce, Adams, Ervine

Adams should replace Benham in the middle order I would have thought.

You're not wrong about needing to win this one... but I reckon we need to win them all - even then we'll probably fall a few precious points behind Sussex. Unless they slip up along the way. Not quite discounting Durham yet either... or even Lancs, especially if we can't beat them.

Wow - it's going to be exciting!

Well you'll have to get the chance to start the lancs game. The members of the lccc forum are spitting feathers about the state of the pitch and whether or not the club should hold concerts mid-season. Check out the webcam for a look.

****ing hell it's an absolute state! When was the last time it was played on?

I reckon three wins (with a decent amount of bonus points) a draw and a defeat from the last five will be enough to win the Championship for us.

I was reading that Lumb's parents flew over from South Africa for the FPT final.

Looks like Dawson is going to make his Hampshire debut tomorrow. I thought he looked pretty useful for the England Under 19s and he's been in decent form for the Academy and 2nd XI all season.

Terry says it's between Pothas and Crawley for the captaincy. Can't say I'm too pleased by that to be honest. Crawley always seems a pretty reluctant captain (ie Hampshire in 2003) and I've always thought that keepers captaining is not ideal...

Udal may have been out of the side recently but he's the best man for the job and will be well up for leading us to Championship glory...

I am beginning to wonder if Udal is about to retire. (Let me add I have heard nothing to this effect in an official, or even unofficial, capacity).

It is so obvious that he should captain the team for the next few weeks, and he is, after all, vice captain, I am just beginning to wonder.
