Perth Scorchers in real trouble. I wonder if this calls for something pivotal from Timmy?

Not a bad effort from Bresnan. Never knew Tye could bat like that.

KP scrapes along but leads the Stars to top. Bell did well too, only wasting one delivery

Anyway I'm rather biased as I've always loved watching Sangakkara bat and I didn't see an issue with him being dropped anyway the only time he scored runs this BB he was under no real pressure as the game was virtually won.

Well, exactly. BBL is for youngsters. You play for entertainment. No one remembers who wins or loses. Just boom crash wham bam bang. Sheffield Shield is the important business. And i'd take Sangakara as my wicket-keeper batsman for Victoria over Matthew Wade anyday to win a title.

Unless you are the Melbourne Stars. Seven players over 31 in their side today.

Serves them right they were stuffed by Brisbane Heat with eight players under 24!

And there you go. I think it's fair enough for the older blokes who were on the fringes of the Australian side for their careers and therefore were underpaid for the majority of it to milk what they can out of a system they served for so long.

There was a crazy finish today, Brisbane needed 3 off the last ball to win with one wicket left and got run out off a wide. I bet they weren't popular with the coach.

According to Cricinfo it was the non strikers fault. The batsman on strike waited for the next delivery and found the non striker charging towards him.

Bresnan and Bell beat KP. Although they owe a lot to Mitch with his figures of 4-2-3-3!

Finally the commentators have been talking about it all competition. Strange game Big Mac and Henriques looked completely at ease everyone else was struggling on a bit of a sticky wicket.

I thought all the English players with the exception of Lumb did pretty well without constantly excelling.

The ODI's against Australia will run from the 14th to 28th of January so if the BBL keeps to the same schedule as this year that and the test series is going to seriously limit the availability of many of the English players. I guess the teams could swap a test only player like Broad with a LOI player but Broad is the only one in the test only category at the moment in this years BBL.

Brensan,Bell,Wright,Mills and KP if he's still playing all did well enough to be under consideration for the BBL I'd have thought and unlikely for various reasons to be in the England test or ODI teams.

Good to see Ireland's Kim Garth play an important role in the final as well. There's decent T20 cricketers playing for the non-test playing countries.

I wonder how many of these will put their names into the IPL auction?

Or how many will be purchased bearing in mind how few England players have played in the IPL since it began.

Not sure why Sean Abbott keeps getting left out of Australian T20 Squads.
