I am not sure if Sachin Tendulkar was a saffer that he should ever be in the same ODI team as Kallis. Sounds stupid doesn't it?
I only say this as Sachin averages 3 less than Amla at a sr of 86 vs. Amla's 84 so really not much in it is there? What a crazy debate. |

This is great to see. Amla was dismissed as not being international quality when he first played against England but he's since proved himself against the top ranked teams. He's great to watch when in full flow as well. And he seems to be adding ODI batting to his repertoire. Earmarked as future captain. All coming up roses for this man.

Yes I admit to being sceptical about him when he played against England at home but he seems to have tweaked his technique. Have nothing but admiration for him now: his batting, general sportsmanship and temperament! |

Quite a turnaround from when he was considered in some quarters to be a quota pick or something close to. Clearly a quality batsman, he's proved his doubters wrong.
1st half of career- 1,460 runs 41 Innings, 2 NO @ 37.43 2nd half of career- 1,923 runs 40 Innings 4 NO @ 53.41 Quite an improvement from his early days. Last edited by Mr Popodopolous : 21st July 2010 at 16:54. |

Rilee Rossouw continues to be impressive. He's just made 131 off 156 balls against SL 'A' in SL to stand out in the innings.

Smith is due to announce today that he will step down from the 20/20 captaincy. Hope Johan Botha gets it.

Snith's decision to retire from 2020 is a good one, the team obviously needs a rethink. I like Smith as a captain but he's too structured for that form of the game. I'm not so sure about the decision regarding ODIs both in terms of timing and in terms of value to the team. Having said that, he's been captain for 7 years, pretty much his entire career. To expect him to be able to continue that in role at a decent level in the two most time-consuming forms of the game might not be realistic. |
