Looks like it might be more serious than first thought.

Selection of the new coach post WC2019 will be a key job for the new person.

Surely Colin Graves can just add the Director of Cricket role to his expanding portfolio?

I believe Giles Clarke is looking for a new role.

Thorpe to take charge of the Lions in the UAE. Currently with the ODI squad in SL. Ramprakash batting coach of the Test team.

Read somewhere that Flower not keen on the Strauss job and England looking at Stewart, Giles, Fraser and Newell.

God help us if someone from outside the band of buddies was brought in to break the smug consensus.

If Flower isn't interested in the Strauss role, it suggests to me that he has something bigger in mind, although I can't imagine what that would be.

I suspect Flower is more interested in a nice cushy role with little actual accountability like the job he has now.

So names for the job - Stewart, Giles, Flower, Fraser, Newell, Hussain, Vaughan, Ed Smith, Rob Andrew and Atherton

Stewart
Giles - potentially, but would be on B list
Flower
Fraser
Newell

Hussain - has plenty of good ideas in the Sky Studio
Vaughan - controversial but has shown clear leadership capability before for England.
Ed Smith needs to focus on continued improvement in selection after a good start
Rob Andrew
Atherton - ditto Hussain but not sure he's a strong enough character for the role.
Kumar Sangakkara and Kevin Pietersen should also be in consideration.

No way will Vaughan go for it. Much easier to sling mud from the sidelines than knuckle down and actually make changes happen

Giles the stand out candidate from that lot. Has actual management experience and been successful, unlike Angus Fraser and Rob Andrew who have the experience but whose achievements section of their CVs is blank after their playing careers.

Didn't Fraser oversee Middx's Championship triumph?

Very true, sentiments which were, I believe, recently expressed by KP as he argued too few former cricketers were still directly involved in the game (not as commentators).

And relegation and subsequent languishing in division 2 whilst finishing bottom of the Blast and making no impact in the One-Day Cup.

His greatest achievement is in managing to make a county appear more dysfunctional than Yorkshire.

Two new names Clare Connor and Nathan Leamon. Job said to be worth £350,000 plus bonuses.

It does seem like Andy Flower is the power behind the throne.

Telegraph
Ashley Giles will be named as Andrew Strauss’s successor as director of the England team early next week at the end of a two month recruitment process.

One of Ashley Giles’ first tasks must be to find a replacement for Ramprakrash as batting coach.

Is Graham Thorpe the ODI batting coach? We seem to have been much better in improving the batting in that form and he was a terrific Test batsman. Either that or get on the blower to Duncan Fletcher.
