Just as you imply England should then? Warne batting up the order isn't a red herring because he was actually more of a batsman than bowler very early in his career, indicating that he could bat. Hoggard most certainly was not. What do you make of Warne's batting stats breakdown then? I notice you ignored that.

Bah! Bell drops 5 places after doing nothing at Headingley but doesn't move up at all after narrowly missing out on a century and saving England's first innings. At least Strauss has moved below him. Bell just needs to swap places with Collingwood and the batting order will be about right. However, I know that the rankings take no notice of match state etc and only look at the bare information on the scorecard.

Panesar's rise to the top of the England bowlers' rankings can't be far away.

It's rather a drastic drop for Prior, 16 places, and now only 5 places in front of Geraint Jones.

Bell's rating score did increase (by 7 points), and he'd have moved up but for Chanderpaul's dramatic rise and Cook's moving up, such that both overtook him.

Thanks. I should look up these details myself before throwing my toys out of the pram. Presumably Cook has now played enough tests for the assessors to stop hedging their bets and we'll see him going even higher soon. It would be good to have two batsmen and two bowlers in the top 10 in the near future.

He jumped about 15 places after his performance at Headingley, and just gave them back with his modest performance (overall) at OT.

He'd come into the ratings/rankings at a high position (relatively) because of his dream debut, so we have to expect some volatility until he has played a few more innings.

Monty's really one half decent match away from being no. 3. Only 9 points below Kumble, and he still doesn't have a full rating yet.

Why is Udal still in the list btw, he hasn't played a Test for more than a year.

Given that Monty does not qualify for a full ranking that is pretty spectacular stuff. His ranking will remain pretty volatile though as he has played comparatively few matches.
