India getting hammered out in S. Africa. Did I dream England beat them in S. Africa last series??

India’s batting has crumbled again, after resistance from Pujara and Kohli.

“Ravi, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kanpur anymore.”

This is a better SA bowling line-up than the one England faced then. It is also quite easy to argue that the batting England sent to SA then is superior to the line-up England has as of the last Ashes series.

True..apparently 180 is a good score on this pitch..soon see.

South Africa must really be kicking themselves not reviewing that lbw early in his innings, otherwise they may have had India out for100. Don't see the point in picking 5 pacemen. A spinner would have been more useful than a 5th seamer.

This test series has moved at pace. Can't believe South Africa have gone into this game with such a long tail!

Yeah as it's a dead rubber I'm surprised Morkel is playing, Bavuma could have played instead really, it would have helped with meeting quotas and given the team a better balance as the pitch seems a bit of a minefield (just looking at the scored forgot it was on today so haven't watched any).

I saw one delivery from Philander that basically turned like an off spinner, at 80mph!! Not sure how that happens on Day 1 of a Test.

I can't decide if this is a great Test Match pitch or a terrible one. Certainly more entertaining than a road anyway.

Amla is on his 3rd different technique during the innings, somehow still out there.

It is a compelling struggle, for sure. India have matched SA bowling-wise and snapped up regular wickets such that parity looks a stretch goal at this point of 137-6.

Gosh both these batting line-ups are fragile.

Tough to call any batting line up fragile on this pitch, sooner or later there's a ball with your name on it. Amla has been lucky to survive some tight lbw decisions.

Amla has improvised. SA dubiously orders greentops only to struggle on them. Their batting is quite brittle with Philander coming in at seven, and de Kock at six. The latter has been poor for a while now.

These low scoring tests are often better entertainment, especially when close affairs like this.

Devon's big Vern is being compared to kallis with some of his driving. Rabada and Vern showing the batsmen how it is done.

Agreed, no idea why they needed 5 quicks on this even if Philander does a great job batting at 7.
