Does seem like a pretty subjective statistic. Does it include leaves or is it just shots played?

I have only an operational knowledge of the tool, not being attached to the site or anything. If I had to guess it's probably based on what the batsman intended to do off the particular ball. I managed to find a somewhat relevant article on the site...

Yes, I'm slightly surprised that the BBC sports pages are giving the IPL more prominence than the Royal London Cup.

But I guess the BBC's web pages are aimed at a global audience rather than ageing Archers-listening traditionalists in the shires!

I enjoy all forms of cricket and have managed to see some IPL matches on TV - Stokes was awesome!
I must admit, however, I am rather uncomfortable at the way the TV coverage seems to centre on scantily dressed western girls cheerleading.

I find that weird, too. Is cheerleading not something that Indian girls do, for starters? If not why is it being done at all? Plus every time the cameras go to them one of the commentators will break the awkward pause with an inappropriate comment and sound like a creepy uncle.

I think there was an opposition to Indian women being underdressed cheerleaders, so they roped in Aussies and South Africans. One of the sides did have traditionally dressed men and women dancers for a few years but not sure it has continued.

Now that does make me really uncomfortable.

Its a little more complicated than that - it also involves an Indian cultural prejudice towards fair skin. Either way I agree it is quite unsavory.

Interested to see Rishabh Pant finally doing of something of note in this tournament. He is very, very hyped. Of course could just turn out to be a slogger at international level - but if he lives up to the hype then he could be quite a player.

Something seriously wrong at RCB. Star studded batting line up collapses yet again.

Consensus is that they've sorted out their bowling this year too, although Mills hasn't been fit much, no matter how much better than Jordan he is. The scores at the Chinnaswamy this year have been very low though, for RCB and their opponents (they even defended a low score in one game) so I think the pitch has changed. Certainly it was tough to time the ball today. Therefore it's quite possible that the RCB attack is still not very good while the batting, that bailed them out last season, just hasn't fired. Gayle looks past it, with his inability to run batting or in the field no longer compensated for by many innings where he heaves the ball over the rope time after time, while Kholi and AB have both missed games through injury and been off their best when playing. Jadhav hasn't been terrible but all their other batsmen have. They've pretty much played Watson or Binny as batsmen and both have been diabolical.

Stokes has more than justified his price tag, hasn't he? Another superb all-round performance, and Pune performance capped by an amazing final over from Unadkat (hat-trick maiden).

Thought Stokes would get MOM.

39 runs (highest scorer), 3 big wickets of Warner, Williamson and Dhawan and 2 catches

Wonder why Buttler is not playing for MI today...

They're just biased towards the Indian player

No I quite agree. 5/30 is pretty impressive from Unadkat and the game was still open in the final over so the 3-wicket maiden was important but pretty hard to look past Stokes' all-round impact.

Don't know why they can't give MOM to both players.

Buttler not playing because he won't be around for the play-offs and Simmons needs game practice. Hope DD win today.

He's certainly stepped it up. Early days he had made a somewhat inauspicious start - one 50, I think - but improved as it went on. Same seems to have gone for Woakes, although he's been expensive.

Delhi flailing badly here - certainly no repeat of the previous game's heroics. Right approach though - you can only even dream of chasing 200 by going for the shots immediately and sometimes that will result in a complete collapse, that's just how it is.

105-0 off 6 overs for KKR. What the hell has happened to Narine? Just smashed the fastest ever IPL 50 (54* off 16 balls). Since when could he bat?

I wonder if Narine's improbable success opening the batting is going to encourage more coaches to follow Kallis's example and experiment with resurrecting the pinch-hitter?
