One therefore wonders if he will also leave the club?
God I hope not

Not a good year for Mitch: he couldn't buy a run until the last six weeks of the season, and it's also his benefit season, and now this.

Against him it has to be said that some of his onfield calls have been questionable and there is, it has been suggested, been some tension with the coaches about tactics.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Joe Leach had been given the job for white-ball cricket next season to break him in but the timing of the decision to make a clean break is a surprise.

I cant argue with the start: unbeaten so far:

Positives:
Josh Tongue - a serious bowling prospect even if his workload needs to be managed.

Joe Leach's captaincy - not frightened to change things.

John Hastings: excellent choice as overseas pro.

Nathan Lyon: I didn't see that one coming.

Negatives:
Brett D'Oliveira: can't buy a run as opener in the four day game

Back-up bowling: thin on the ground if injuries strike.

I see some more positives.
I think that the team is showing more collective character. Hopefully we'll have fewer of the batting collapses seen in earlier years.
I'd like to see Charlie Morris pushing for a first team slot again. Ed Barnard continues to improve his bowling and batting.

I don't think young Dolly should open (not just my view). Kohler Cadmore did a superb job yesterday at the top of the order and I would use him there all the time.

All in all I feel rather more confident about the team than I've done for some time. I wish I could say the same about the future of the club and cricket in general.

Out of contract in Sept and Warwicks have already made an approach.

Am I right in thinking that the start date for making 30 day notice approaches to out of contract players used to be a lot later - mid or late June?

But according to cricinfo the poaching season has already offically started,so the date must have been brought forward this season...

Josh Tongue seems to like playing against Glamorgan.

Has anyone got any video of him bowling?

ECB website has highlights of all the CC games - the CC Facebook page had a link to his 19 ball spell of 5-3, too.

I did look on the ECB site but couldn't find it.

I've given up on facebook.

https://www.ecb.co.uk/county-champio...-centre#videos

Would be able to provide more links but there's something wrong with this site at the moment for me on my laptop, gives a 403 forbidden error message when I try to log on and chrome says it's "not secure".

Anyway, that site has videos from the Worcestershire game - for Tongue's awesome spell you'll have to scroll right down, though. Actually, it seems those videos are now too old and have been removed. Still, that's the page to boomkmark because it's refreshed constantly with highlights from all the games - sometimes not if they don't have their cameras set up right.

Worcestershire have high hopes for their 19-year-old left arm spinner Ben Twohig (pronounced how?).

He was made skipper for their T20 2s double-header this week.

Well that's one horrible wet winter month out of the way and we can look forward to the new season with some hope and anticipation.
New CEO, new Head Coach + return of Big Al. People are talking to each other.
Bring it on.

Apparently Worcestershire are confident they can start their first home fixture of the season v Notts according to a journalist 'supposed' to be on gardening leave.

Perhaps it's too wet for gardening.
