England make Woakes, Crane and Broad available for Finals Day.

Good, the t20 blast needs some star English names.

Why aren't the others allowed?

Call it a wild guess, but could it have something to do with Root, Ali, Anderson, Bairstow, Cook, Malan, Roland-Jones, Stokes, Stoneman and Westley not being on the staff at Glamorgan, Hants, Notts or Warwicks?

I really hope Broad does not play for Notts today but I have a feeling he will come in for Billy Root. Broad has not played t20 all summer, lets give the guys who got us there the chance.

We don't need an extra bowler (Ball, Gurney, Mull, Christian, Samit, Sodhi should be plenty) and could do without having four proper tail enders occupying places 8-11. I would rather have a proper batsmen coming in at 8 and fewer quicks, especially if the pitch is worn.

I just hope Moores is brave in his decision making.

Can't see any Lancashire based team not bidding strongly for their present captain (not listed) for instance ahead of Benny Howell or Luis Reece (both mentioned). They may also be given some IPL style matching rights.

Yes interesting work, though I couldn't read through it all without going cross-eyed. I'd never suspect Billings to be so ordinary when you do a detailed analysis, I was thinking he'd underachieved a bit at international level but perhaps that's just his level.

I agree with your general point but not sure about the Lancs specifics, Recce used to play for Lancs and he's quite possibly a better T20 player than LL (who's pretty darn poor, Buttler is another matter of course).

Would depend a lot on who was the coach. Luis Reece hardly featured in T20 when at Lancs. 4 games only in his last season, none before that. For some curious reason Chapple and Moores before him selected Luke Procter ahead of him in both the shorter formats and when Reece finally did play T20, he did not bat but was called upon to bowl:

He proved them wrong last year:

97 would have been one of the highest ever Lancs T20 scores had he scored that for rather than aganist Lancs.

Livingstone's strike rate for Lancs is 134, not top of the range but surely better than "pretty darn poor"

I just don't see him as a T20 player, not at the top level anyway. He's still pretty young but I see him always being a better 4/5 day batsman.

A team based in Manchester spending a huge amount on him would be surprising and I don't see teams really bidding against them so I don't think it would be necessary.

Recce was just a bit of tongue in cheek as he was actually a Lancs lad.

Absolutely agree that he is a better 4/5 day batsman.

The lack of bidding against factor is important. Each TMG franchise will have their own home town favourites which might mean the whole process is a bit farcical - and only possibly of interest when someone playing for the one of the other counties is up for grabs - but they will probably end up with a neighbouring franchise.

I did sometimes wonder whether the Lancs hierachy ever rated Luis Reece. He was in the academy but let go, then perhaps only signed when other counties started noticing his Leeds / Bradford University performances. Heard a rumour at the time that he was signed as Yorkshire were interested. Purely a rumour of course.
