No scorecard, but commentary on @5liveSport

Mahmood first 3 overs for 30. Comes back and has all 5 wickets bowled.

It does seem unfair on them that the match was played at The Oval.

ECB have a 15 min video of what it was like last year. I think the South will win again. Both teams not as experienced as last year.

South take a 1-0 win

Delroy Rawlins the star with the second best strike rate with the bat and the best bowling economy rate with the ball.

South 347ao in 49 overs
North 284ao in 47.1 overs

South win by 63 runs

Two changes each team. Pope and Porter for Simpson and Barber; Critchley and Fisher for Jennings and Chappell

South won toss and bowl.

"I really think we've got something to build on. This North-South rivalry has a really strong future," said Strauss.

"We'll take a bit of time to speak to everyone involved and review this year's series."

Strauss added: "We've got an opportunity to think about it creatively, whether as a way of ensuring our leading white-ball cricketers have the stage to play some high-quality 50-over cricket after the introduction of our new domestic structure from 2020, or maybe taking this North-South rivalry into red-ball cricket."

How long before a two team county championship is proposed. Counties bidding to host both the North and South franchises?
