Can't be that many occasions where match figures like Finn's are on the wrong end of a > 100 run defeat except in very low scoring games, although as you say, shows how good Worcs were other than when they were all getting out to Finn.

Penultimate game of the season against Middlesex at Lords today. I'm guessing that the rain will ruin the whole thing, but I very much hope me can find the bonus points to staty third. Even two wins doesn't really give us a credible chance of catching either of the top two, but third would be a fantastic result given our pre-seaon clear out.

No disaster at lunch ... Worcestershire 62/1 and if we had to lose a wicket, better Wheeldon than Mitchell.

Middlesex will be reeling as we power along at 2.1 an over.

313 all out - not bad, but less than maximum batting bonus points.

Going to need to get on with it if we're going to hoover up 3 bowling points.
Moeen Ali on to bown now - our seventh most attacking option

Trekked down to Lords (the home of crochet) today to use the free ticket for a day of CC I got with my test match tickets. Fun day out because it’s Lords but we weren’t right good. The Dexter Shah partnership didn’t look special but also didn’t look challenged. Before lunch we ended up bowling Moeen Ali and Daryll Mitchell – not a great state of affairs, but when Shakib was plopping down half trackers and even a wide it was expedient. Although Moeen ended up with 5 so maybe there was a plan.

Thought some of the rain breaks were a little poncey.

Our second inning was saved by the ZZ Top of the midlands too. I guess having lost a little time to rain they knew that had to get on with it, but there was a fair bit of hacking going on Moeen excepted.

I’m guessing that with a lead of 100 and something and 3 wickets left we can’t set M’sex a credible target but it’s not out of the question and they’re clearly up for taking some risks to keep to slender chance of that second spot open.

Beef pie at lunch truly world class.

Sussex 3/1 c'mon ... more of that.

Fingers crossed for Glam vs Derbyshire drawn due to meteorite strike.

A second much needed Sussex wicket, they're going at an annoyingly good pace. Luckily Glamorgan are keeping it interesting by being even worse than us (57 for 5).

Congrats. Apparently Ali is staying with you, will be interesting to see how he goes in Division 1.

Phew, I was away from my PC yesterday and dependant upon texts and the like to know what what was going on. It was all very very exciting.

Finishing 3rd given the pre-season clear out would have been good work, this is more than we can possibly have hoped for.

Div 1 cricket will give us a great chance of retaining the likes of Moeen and like you say test him out. I think he's probably one of the team who has what it takes to take it up a notch or two.

Looks like there's a fair chance we'll have to make do without an oversees player next year due to financial concerns. Must be bad as I thought Shakib was a bargain. I quite like the idea of getting by without one, but if we could get the cash together Shakib would be my first choice - a spinner is the thing we're most obviously missing and he played a huge part in sneaking those last couple of wins to get us promoted.

Perhaps other counties with more money were impressed with Shakib too? Certainly Surrey have explicitly stated that they're looking for an overseas spinner who can turn the ball away from right handed batsmen.

Yeah, he'll probably go the way of Steven Rhodes ... oh well, maybe we can find another enthusiastic farm hand from Malvern to step into the breach.

Don't think that he's much cop, but given that our main challenge could be finding 11 people we can afford at all this is good news.

Hadn't heard that before. Bowling a little below par this year, but his lower order hacking saved us more than once.

And we have Damien Wright for the first half of the season. All in all, I think Bumpy has done well withhis overseas recruitment.

Sure has, it's not like we've a fat chequebook to wave around (although I guess anyone coming to New Road knows they'll get the first couple of months off while they pump out the flood water).

The BBC today have the story that Shakib Al Hasan will be back ...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cric...re/9371829.stm

... which I thought was already in the bank, but good news all the same.

Wonder if we're allowed to get rid of that stupid camouflage T20 kit (although I guess there are a couple that we need to hide in the field)

Wasn't that in support of Help For Heroes though?
