ABC Grandstand have gone the alternative route of hiring actual professional sports broadcasters instead of the unremitting slew of recently retired ex pro cricket bros who act like they're the matiest mates that ever mated (channel Nein.) Pleasure hearing the likes of Maxwell, Mitchell, Agnew and Whateley.

We've been lumbered with KP and Vaughan on the Ch9 coverage here in Australia.

Botham appeared briefly on the lunch time Cricket Show here, a pity he isn't a commentator here as he'd be better value than those other two plonkers.

Ian Chappell wouldn't be having him on the Ch9 coverage though for fear of Beefy punching his lights out.

Yes, Ponting comes across far better in the box than he did to us poms when a player.

Hard to find decent commentary during the Ashes as too much "bants".

Yes it does seem like BT have done this on the cheap, using TMS people already over there. Punter and Gilchrist are good and I've grown to like Vaughan a bit more but Swann is a real turn off for me. Much rather have Tuffers.

I love Tuffers and have to admit that MPV is either getting better or Iíve come to accept him. Dan Norcross will take a lot more getting used to. He needs to calm down.

At least we are spared that awful Aussie system of three commentators on together.

The Sky commentators will be relieved that we’ll be looking forward to seeing/hearing them again next summer.

Cricket247 coming back was worth it just for this bombshell!

Other than Athers and Nass, who on Sky are you actually missing?

Are you referring to some of the county guys like Rob Key? (I know you have a weird crush on Dominic Cork)

Gower, Bumble. Not Warne.

Cork is more involved at Derbyshire these days, I understand, so we don't see so much of him in the commentary box on domestic cricket.

Vaughan sometimes talks sense. It's embarrassing to admit that I quite often agree with him these days.

I had to delete your smileys as there were too many.

Ponting is pretty good when he commentates the Big Bash too.

He's still not as bad as Ian Healy who is basically an Aussie cheerleader.

Hes like a stench that wont go away.
You know when you have to bait rats in your house?
They take the bait and you think theyre gone, only and fall down into the wall cavity and stink like fek in 40 degree heat for a long time after.
Thats how i feel about him.
Bumble Lloyd should take his place, a pleasure to listen to.

Think she meant the test commentators. Gower, Botham, Holding and possibly Bumble. The others do county stuff. Hope Flintoff never gets near the Test commentary box.

Flintoff would just espouse flat earth propaganda. I'd be quite interested in watching that, just in a car crash sort of way.

I've stopped listening to the Nein commentary now, it's either on mute and i'll glance at the Guardians OBO for analysis. Or i'll just go for a walk and listen to Grandstand.

I agree with whoever said Vaughan is less punishing than he was. He and Tuffers are quite good together in their analysis of the game.
