Agree re aggers - he is often pontificating on the state of county cricket but I bet he could not name more than 9 of each county first team. In fact, I wonder how many captains he could name. Similar to boycott.
I have absolutely no doubt that Aggers hasn't attended a County Championship match for over 3 years - hardly acceptable for the BBC's Cricket Correspondent.

PS Forgot about Tuffers who is excellent too.

County captains are hard to keep up with. So much chopping and changing, different captains for different formats, captains dropping themselves that even if he did watch any county cricket his knowledge would soon become outdated. Probably easier to name 9 players (you don't really need to know fringe county players for the England side anyway).

The general point about not keeping up with the county game is a valid point for the expert summarisers. You see it when they just pick a name at random from the averages and claim someone like Leach should be in the England squad despite his struggles with the Lions on Australian pitches away from Taunton's sub-par pitches.

Dagnall and Rainsford-Brent are the best radio commentary combo for my money. Knowledgable, interested and interesting.

Tubbs just too biased.
Clarke speaks sense but his accent is so annoying.

I had to go on mute.
Healey is the worst, for me (assuming we aren't counting Mark Waugh). As a general rule all the Australian commentators seem incredibly out of touch with the world game. I can tolerate Slater but the bar is pretty low.

Yes Healy is the most one-eyed of the lot. I used to like Slater but a lot of Nicholas's mannerisms seem to have rubbed off on him. I preferred the other Aussies that BT used like Hussey, Ponting, Lee and Gilchrist.

From the Saffers commentary box, I really rate Graeme Smith. He's very insightful and really reads the game well.

He is my new favourite.

Jimmy is surprisingly good. He will become a regular when he retires.

Agreed, didn't like him when he was playing (largely because he did so well in England I suppose, plus he helped wreck Finn's career), but you start to see what made him such a good skipper.

Vaughan's at it again:

http://www.wisden.com/stories/your-g...s-embraced-t20

Club cricket needs bouncy castles and live bands. Cos clubs have loads of money floating around for such things.

Interestingly enough the Southern Premier League (my local league) has had a T20 comp for a few years now and the 50 over comp on Saturdays was the first to use coloured clothing and white balls of any ECB Premier League when they introduced it last season.

But if you are a pundit addicted to soundbites who barely pays attention to the county game let alone the club game how is he going to find out?

Bumble's point why people give up the game was interesting. But its the sort of thing Vaughan probably doesnt want to hear.

I seem to remember Vaughan talking about club cricket before on TMS, probably through his son starting to play in the youth teams. I don't think he's as out of touch as a lot of pundits out there, especially (and ironically) the Sky commentators who are supposed to cover the domestic game. In fact Vaughan has grown on me a lot in the last six months.

I used to like him as a pundit but since he went on Strictly he seems to have become too much of a tool for me.

Bumble's point highlights how these issues are never as clear cut as people often make out.

I was playing 20 over per side club matches over thirty years ago. They were called 'beer matches' then because, if the real game finished considerably earlier than scheduled, we had to find something to occupy ourselves until the pubs opened. Some clubs played after-work 20 over thrashes too.

I'm listening to the T20 on TMS. James Taylor doesn't half talk a load of obvious tripe and is an absolute curse on our batsmen.

The match commentators are in the Channel 9 studio, it just happens that 2 of their commentators are English (well English/South African!). BT just take their feed the commentary is nothing to do with them they just add Swann and Vaughan for colour.

And he has a very monotonous voice.

Vaughan fans, take note.

He’s on The Chase Celebrity Special at 5pm today. Don’t know if this a repeat.

So the English cricket returns to Sky -

One advantage of BT is that they show one hour highlights (low lights) of the T20 matches. Sky appear to think we all have three hours each day to watch the match in full. they used to do 1 hour highlights of T20 blast, and internationals - the T20 blast highlights were dropped last year - and now the International ones!

Methinks that dedicated Cricket channel will soon be ditched by Sky once they realise its not making them money.

It would be a bit silly having just spent a billion quid on cricket TV rights.
