ODIs England vs Ireland

The international summer has begun!

England leave out Moeen Ali ... a suprising move ... is he injured?

No reports of an injury. Most likely that they want to give game time to as many batsmen as possible, but it is possible that his lack of wickets has got him out the side, I suppose. Would be very surprised if we don't go with 6 bowlers in the CT though.

England just have the 5 bowlers. If one of them has a bad day England have only Joe Root in reserve.

Hardly that surprising that England don't fancy a second spinner in Bristol in early May.

Nice to see Mark Wood is still capable of getting it through at around 90mph.

Missing both Stokes and Woakes at the IPL too so the side is inevitably going to balance a bit differently.

Hoho.

No shafting that attack.

We're missing Moeen. Root on for the 22nd over and makes the glaring mistake of dismissing Porterfield.

Billings has impressed me as the keeper, too. Looks to me to be the best actual keeper of our three, despite his lack of practice.

Dear or dear, this is a pretty naff game now unless England's batting comes a cropper.

Seven wickets to the spinners. The second spinner took more wickets than any of the seamers.

Which means what? The seamers dd the hard work getting Ireland's best batsmen out. Both Ball and Wood looked to be getting it through at a good rate too.

I think the facts of the matter allow for various interpretations, one of which would be that England picked exactly the right bowling attack for this match.

Ireland were defenceless playing against a full member.

They probably knew what was coming.

I was unsure for a while why England had left the chase until the last ball then I realised it was a fifty over game.

Think our attack was just too much of a handful.
